[How-To] Rooting LS670ZVD with GingerBreak (no reverting and OTA works too!)

Just got an optimus s. Haven't gotten it turned on yet, but I'm excited. I want to try this! I will need to check the software version first I assume. I can't wait.

gonna try this out.. hope i dont break my wifes phone : )
just finished : )

was a little nervous about this at first.. but it went well.

note: after you do the gingerbreak.. stay in root (#) and then move on to install the recovery bootloader.

this is sweeet!!

Excellent! I've been looking for away to easily root my Optimus without having to downgrade it first. This is much simpler and is similar to manually rooting my nook. Thanks

it kept saying that it couldn't find busybox when it got to step 11, but everything else worked out fine. i have superuser installed and gingerbreak went through. phone restarted without bricking, so i guess what im asking is the busybox important to the rooting process? does that mean that it didnt work after all?

Ok guys Im really new to all of this and Im trying to root my Optimus S running 2.2.2 but i cant figure it out. Mine is running build zvd.41b2924e. So I was on here and it all seems to be here but where do I find the OptimusRootZVD.zip? I am trying to get my hotspot working.

every time that i try to fire up adb shell it says that error device not found and i installed all drivers but i couldnt install one because it took long as 45 minutes to install

it keeps telling me failed for data/local/tmp no such file or directory exists please explain to me what i am doing wrong.

Thanks for the help! Tried to root on mac with xda-developers instructions and kept getting stuck... Got hold of a PC so we'll see if this makes it happen!

ok noob here never root a phone . been looking on how to do it .I got and the thing i need and installed the platfor-tool and set the phat for the SDK Manager .exe now i am on step 3 Prepare the /data/local/tmp directory with write permissions i don't under sand how to sat that up

I am trying to root from a Mac. I know I am probably missing something extremely simple, but I can't even get past step 3 haha. When I type the adb shell command it says "-bash: abd: command not found"

What am I doing wrong?

I rooted my Nook Color in no time with no problems but this Optimus S is giving me problems.

Thanks!

After I run gingerbreak, I get a lot of '[-] sendmsg() failed?'

Should I just wait it out, or have I done something wrong?

Generally you get those errors because you didn't do a clean reboot before running gingerbreak. Pull your battery and try again.

"Thanks" posts aren't against the rules and they aren't spam as they're still technically on topic. Thanks posts are a good means of giving recognition but pressing the thanks button is more efficient IMO.

i have a question... everything goes great until step 9. i have tried several times and after i do step 9 step 10 tells me theres no such directory. am i doing something wrong? i have an optimus s, i have checked my software and according to insructions, this should work. i don't know what i am doing wrong. please help.
