Android Central Question

Today my Gboard started changing language when I use Duolingo. I'm danish and like having a stable keyboard where buttons don't switch place, so I only have a danish keyboard set up in the language options. And yet it keeps switching to whatever language I'm learning in Duolingo, rearranging the keyboard. I can't seem to find any options regarding it, as "multilingual keyboard" option is greyed out because there is only 1 language set up. I can't find any information about it in the Duolingo app either. This is a problem to me because I keep making spelling mistakes now that the keyboard switches at every lesson.

I can't seem to find information anywhere about this either, other than a thread that got no answers. Hoping to get one here..

As I said, the issues has started within the last 48 hours. So far it only seems to be happening in Duolingo, which I use every day and it is only today that the issue has revealed itself..

Welcome to the forums. It seems a bug that came with the latest update, there are a few reports about the same problem in the Play Store. Have you tried the workaround included in that Reddit thread? Annoying but worth a try while they fix it.

Since you can't Uninstall the update, my suggestion would be copy that version down go to APK mirror and look up gboard and get the version below yours and install it , dont let play store automatically update it and Uninstall the current version so older apk can install

Thank you. Since I use a danish keyboard, the workaround doesn't work for me. I did try adding a another qwerty keyboard, but the issue is that it uses that as the default, rather than my danish keyboard (that has a different button layout). With multilingual option applied of course. I can't set up a danish keyboard for it to default to. I have auto-correct and all of those features disabled so I wouldn't mind if I could choose a another language with the danish layout. Sadly not an option.

But I'm glad to hear it's a bug rather than a feature. It would imply that it will be corrected.

Thanks to you both. And for the quick replies. Knowing it's a bug gives me a little more patience. Time to see if my patience can wait out a bugfix or if I'm driven to APK mirror 🤣

Haha. I can understand the practicality of Duolingo and similar apps changing automatically the language and layout but there should be an option to disable it.

Well it's less that I'm worried about my case. I have the help and answers I consider useful. I'm more thinking of the people who has tried to find a solution and only got as far as the other thread. To me this is pretty much case closed and a positive experience

And yes I agree on that language change practically. I think it was intended for if you have the keyboard set up already, which would be very practical. And without a keyboard for that language, a prompt asking if you want to temporarily have a basic setup would be amazing as well, rather than being forced into it and having to switch it off all the time

Also completely unrelated, typing an answer on this site using that same device is strange. I can only see as much of what I'm.typing as can fit in the tiny answer box. And space between lines is mayne x1.5 or x2 of the actual posts. It's hard to navigate when dealing with several lines. - A bit of feedback on use of this site
