How to store in car?

How do you guys/gals keep your GN while in your car? I currently just place it in a cup holder or on the passenger seat. Neither of these are ideal as the cup holder is prone to moisture either from condensation on a cup or spills and in the passenger seat it slides around while turning. I've tried windshield mounts and the weight dashboard mounts but the slight shaking that occurs while driving drove nuts. So, what do you guys do with your phone in the car?

I bought a mount that attaches to the vents on my dash. It also came with a suction cup to attach to the windshield. You can find it on Amazon. I got mine in a flea market for $15.

I have the Samsung Car Dock. It sucks. Passenger seat or between my legs.

I use a Proclip mount. It is a 2 piece system where you buy a vehicle specific mount that connects to a device specific cradle. The system matches your device to your car. It is kind of pricey but it is actually saving me money now because I stopped wasting money on other mounting solutions that don't work as well. Do a Google search for Proclip and then bite the bullet on the initial cost.

I got a mount that uses the CD slot. Available on Amazon. Works like a charm. Tried one of those that stick on the windshield. Much too much bounce.

Cup holder that I'm not sure has ever had a cup in it in the 5 years I've owned my truck. Works well for me

I keep it on top of a sleeve/sock on my thigh or atop the cup holders.

A sleeve or a sock on your thigh?

Yes. Depending on what I'm wearing (lol), I'll have my custom made sleeve (English tweed) or my phone sock (small, extremely plush black lady's sock). I'll take the phone out, put the sleeve/sock down, put the phone on top. OR, if I'm just streaming, I'll load up my playlist, put it in the sleeve/sock, and put it on top of the cup holders.

Very OCD when it comes to handling my devices :).

Between the legs if I'm not charging it, cup holder or passenger seat if it's charging. However, keeping it on the passenger seat was not an option before I put a case on it. Slippery bastard. :p

I have a weird crevice I have no idea what its for. I lay my nexus on its side there. I run the charger from under the armrest and to complete it all... stick gum perfectly into the cupholder that is too small to hold a cup.

Lol I bought this spiderpodium thing from Amazon for like 8 bucks.. Holds it perfect from the air vent, and you can easily re-shape it if you want to hold it in landscape instead. Love the thing :)

For those of you that don't put it in a holder while driving I have one word for you: Stop.

I've been in two car accidents in the last 3 years. In both cases I needed to call 911 immediately. The first one I had the phone sitting on the passenger seat. After the accident I had no clue where it was. I eventually found it on the floor under the back seat. How it got there I don't know. But I couldn't find it when I needed it most.

Since then I keep the phone where it can't fly away. In the second accident I was dialing 911 before a minute had elapsed because I knew where to find the phone.

A word to the wise: Keep your phone fastened down during car driving, you're going to need it in an emergency.

@2defmouze

I live in the south and cold air is worth more than gold some days. I've always been concerned with the phone blocking this precious resource if I mounted it to a vent. How much does the phone block the A/C?

I'm sorry to hear about your accidents, this is such great advice!

...or just stop getting into car accidents. :p

Actually, I had my phone in my HAND a few years ago at a light and some clueless b!tch rear ended me. I think my phone ended up on the back floor as well. I guess as long as it doesn't slam into the dashboard or windshield it should be fine. :)
