Got the free AirPush Detector and it found the culprit and prompted me to remove it. It was an app I didn't even know I had -- though I had surely downloaded it early in my Droid days. Thanks for the tip! The detection was fast, easy, free and effective. What more could anyone want!!!

I cleared temp files and cache, then uninstalled an app called Stock Market Tips by mobileBeez NG6. This immediately cleared the existing notification and I havn't had anymore yet.

Hope this helps.

I installed addon detector & found the culprit: text cutie, which I got for text posts to instagram but I can live without!

My culprit was Christmas Go Launcher Theme. And Addons Detector let me see what addons or downloads were causing the problem Addons Detector (Android) - Download

just as a note for most people, the apps most likely to have the air push built in are things like live wallpapers or themes for launchers because when you're looking for the culprit in your app drawer trying to find out which app is the sketchy 1 you can't see your live wallpapers or your themes so people are less likely to find out which 1 it is
