How to Voodoo ***Updated 27 Mar 2011***KERNEL BUILT FROM SOURCE/SOUND/UNDERVOLTED

also you may want to post questions like this in the thread they relate to. for instance you should have posted in my how to voodoo thread. i get email alerts everytime someone post in that thread. i can answer easier that way. dont ge tme wrong, dan is as smart as they come, and you wont find anyone on any forum thats as helpful as he is, but he hates voodoo.

Will surely keep that in mind, Chief! :) And I gotta agree, Dan is one of the most helpful of all here. I'm not sure if he remembers but on almost every occasion I have posted a query here, Dan has been the first to help. :)

Dan, kudos to you, mate! You know you are awesome! And so are you, Gunnermike for all the awesome how-to guides! :D

Thanks to both of you, I finally managed to experience Voodoo. Something that has been sort of an enigma for me for a while. :P Ran a full quadrant benchmark and here are the results. :D

Reading you all discussing voodoo tonight convinced me to try again. I bricked it up really good the last time I tried, and have stayed away for a while. Trying again tonight with the information from this thread and its linked threads, I got voodoo working. Quadrant high score of 1508. Thanks Dan and mike for the how to's and 3design for inspiring me to try again.

I am really enjoying the new setup with nitroHonecomb theme over it. Thanks guys!

^ That's great to know, mate! :) I'm glad I could push myself and you to try..:P I've been contemplating a move to Voodoo for a while, but all the information overload kinda had me develop cold feet.

Same had happened when I had first thought of ditching Verizon's bloatware ridden stock rom for Adrenalyne's awesome Superclean rom based on EB01/EB16. Thanks to DroidXcon's step by step guide, it was a smooth upgrade.

I'm just happy that every "upgrade" till now has been flawless on the very first attempt, thanks to these awesome guides. :) Hope this helps other beginners here as well. :)

question: mess up

ok men i used CWM and had no problems and then the other night i saw a newer update from Adryl. and i installed it useing clockwork.. i wiped both cache's afterwards i couldnt DL anything. phone said network error.. and i re-loaded from the ground up 2.6 etc and now my ph says

Kernal Vs 2.6.32.9

Build number SCH-I500.EB01

is this 2.9 or do i need to reflash 2.9

ok so ive been following this thread tonight and this voodoo talk got me to go ahead and give it a try. ive already screwed up my phone a couple times and was able to fix it. and figured no matter how bad it is, it cant be any worse than what gunnermike has done to his phone.:) but it was a piece of cake (or pie), and my phone is smoother and snappier than ever.

just wanted to thank gunnermike for his work here. i finally decided it was time for some voodoo and everything went great.

All of them if we give mike an incentive program :-D

I gotta agree. I guess most are holding back because of the fear of bricking their phones, all because of the risks involved with the earlier versions of Voodoo. And these horror stories spread like wildfire on the net. :P

Voodoo has come a long way itself. Its far more 'beginner-friendly' now than it ever was before. The performance difference is noticeable from start up after the 'upgrade'. ( Well, its really an upgrade for me. :P ) I'm not going back to non-voodoo anytime soon, or until it somehow manages to screw up my phone in any way. Which, i hope, will not happen. :P

You probably flashed the EB16 kernel. I would imagine it just didn't take well. If you're not sure if you have 2.9 or not just flash it and you shouldn't have any problems. Make sure to flash the patch to prevent other problems. Alternatively, I've had some network errors with the EB16 kernel, but I just toggled airplane mode and it all came right back up.

What I notice most is scrolling thru long lists like in TB or root explorer. It doesn't stutter, just smooth scroll. Another thing is doing a nandroid...the thing flys.

Make sure when flashing some new rom that its voodoo, then no need to disable lagfix, just flash. Themes are no prob also, just flash. If you flash nonvoodoo over voodoo w/o disable bad things will happen.

I would suggest loading adrys updated voodoo kernel....has cleared up my timekeeping probs and has helped others besides who doesn't want the latest and greatest from our super dev

I now can honestly tell people I love my phone!

I just want to thank everyone here for all of your great info and hard work on this. I originally rooted my phone about 3 weeks ago and like the posts say, I am now completely hooked. I have installed all of the updates via CWR and just today decided to flash the voodoo kernel (EB01) via CWR and now I love my phone more like I did when I bought it and had the illusion that Verizon would actually support my device with worth-while updates. ;) I got a benchmark score of 1510, which as you notice on the comparison screen a page or so back is almost twice as fast as the stock Fascinate, and couldn't be happier. The instructions worked like a charm and if anyone takes the time to read through all of the posts in this thread and the others, they have nothing to worry about. I've bricked my phone twice along the way and it is so easy to get it back with Odin and all, people just need to read up and they will love their phone. There are too many people to thank, so thanks everyone!

I just voodooded 3 days ago after having non-voodoo for about a week and the only thing i notice faster is the market opens faster...but then i dont have alot of apps installed either. I did install and run Quadrant after seeing 3dsigns results and mine were 1455....seems a little less. I did install the EB16 voodoo kernel yesterday if that has anything to with it i dont know. Overall though i am happy with my Fascinate over stock thats for sure.
Thanks for everyone here and all the hard work put into making all this happen!:)

got ya. as i mentioned, its jsut the place i started. you dont have to flash to stock. i just wanted to make sure i cover the whole spectrum.
