I believe that some are overclocked and some are not.

You can evaluate if a kernel is overclocked if it states that it runs faster than 1.0 GHz or has 1.2/1200 or some number greater than 1.0/1000 in the description. Those are kernels that either are set to run overclocked or can be overclocked using SetCPU.. Read posts all the way through.

I have used both types and prefer to use those that are set to run at the desired overclocked speed... if you try to overclock and scale the speed using SetCPU you do so with warning: Lots of frustration will ensue unless you really know what you are getting into.

Read everything you can on overclocking and using SetCPU before using that app and scaling up/down... {personal experiences}

i dont want to over clock at all maybe just scale back when the screen is off like set it too 400 insted of a 1000

glad you got it working!

here are some related posts where you can find a voodoo kernel:

right now I'm running JT's 1/23 voodoo kernel, I haven't tried any others yet to be able to give any recommendations, but this kernel is working pretty well for me so far

you need setcpu to do this for you. you can find it on the app market for $2 I believe

I have gone that direction with SetCPU - not the best way. Lots of frustration with the phone becoming unresponsive.

You can shop around and find kernels that more aggressively throttle back when at rest - Blaze is a good one for that. Link and you don't have to install any governor control like SetCPU.

I know that since switching to voodoo kernels, lowering screen brightness, and limiting my data sync to times I control... battery live is substantially extended.

i just looked at those and they seem to be oc and how ddo u limit data sync

Blazed RC 2.3 and 2.4 are not OC'd - they have the ability to be over clocked but governor is set to default to 1.0 GHz.

Start with JT's 12/30 kernel - it is highly recommended and I have had good success with it.

To limit data sync you choose when to sync - (I turn it off at night) - Settings>Accounts and Sync [uncheck Background data and Auto-sync]..

You will still get calls and text messages. The phone will not sync google contacts, gmail, or emails...

I turn it on in the morning by reversing the procedure.

ok, so no one answered this question yet, so I'll ask again. how do I get rid of red cwm and back to blue recovery? can I just flash all of the stock files and it would bring it back?

As far as I'm aware, all the latest Voodoo kernels replace the blue recovery with the red Clockwork. So, to go back to the stock blue, you'd have to flash back to a non-voodoo kernel.

Sorry. Must have missed that one. Why on earth would you wanna go back to blue. What's going on?
