How to Voodoo ***Updated 27 Mar 2011***KERNEL BUILT FROM SOURCE/SOUND/UNDERVOLTED

If the problem started happening right after you flashed a kernel, the first thing I'd do is go back if it were me.

Hope you have backups in any case.

So its okay to start flashing other kernels before I fix this problem?

Yes, as these guys may be on the right track and the kernel may be the cause of the problem. So flashing different kernels may do the trick. If you are running nonvoodoo, make sure after you flash each kernel you go into the voodoo section and choose disable voodoo before rebooting, just to make sure. If you are running voodoo, doesn't hurt just to look in there to make sure voodoo is set to enable on next reboot.

Alright I flashed back and everything is working good. So obviously the kernel was the problem. Now why is it only happening to me? Has anyone else tried this kernel and had this same problems? Is there any solution because I would love to have the sound amp.

Download the Voodoo Sound Control app from the Market, it gives you the sound amp

*edit* got ahead of myself there... what did you flash back to?

I do have it downloaded and it says at the bottom that "sorry, this phone doesn't run a kernel supporting extended sound controls".

Edit - When I flashed jt's it was working but at the cost of my phone freezing every minute.

Try to flash the kernel again. I had to pull my battery, three button press into recovery and flash it a second time to get it to take. For some reason these kernels seem touchy. The kernel was JT's 3/26 btw.

Sometimes you just get a bad download or bad flash with these new kernels. Anyone I have seen here at AC or over at XDA who has had minor problems like yours has cleared up the problem by flashing the kernel again. I've even seen people who have had to flash one of the new kernels 3 or 4 times before they got it to work. Just remember that these kernels were compiled from the Froyo source for the Mesmerize. While the Fascinate and the Mesmerize do have the same Samsung model number, they are still technically different phones. I have not heard or read of anyone experiencing any serious problems or damage as a result of flashing these kernels. It just take more than one try to get some of them to really take with your set up. Good thing is we have quite a few to choose from, so if you want to try different ones out until you find the one that works best for you. Things will be MUCH better when the Fascinate source is finally dropped. Right now we are just getting a taste of what is to come. Enjoy.

I see. Well I tried reflashing to jt's but the same thing is happening. I'll try a couple more times. Thank you everyone for your help.
