I feel like it needs to be mentioned.
OVER CLOCKING CAN CAUSE REAL DAMAGE TO YOUR PROCESSOR!
So what exactly is overclocking?

Ok I have another question im on 2.9.2 sc voodoo and going to wipe data how far will it take me back do I need to go nonvoodoo first or will it just work. Im at work right now and can't do anything with odin so I have to be carefull

Just flashed jt1134's new EC10 Voodoo over Adrynalyne's EC10 voodoo. I cleared the cache and the dalvik cache. Then I flashed the new EC10. Everything went fine, phone rebooted and everything is running fine except for my videos. I went to view one of my videos and it starts the first second or two and then freezes the phone. I've tried it with multiple videos and freezes each time. Is there something I did or didnt do? Or is this just a rare complication. I would like to get my videos back if at all possible. Any input is welcome.
Edit - Also just noticed a game just froze at the title
So what exactly is overclocking?
Overclocking increases the cpu's clock speed to achieve faster performance
But pretty much all the experts say the minimal performance gain you may not even notice is not worth the high risk you run of cooking your cpu. Even Gunnermike53, who puts frogs in his phone, speak out against overclocking. Our phones with the 1GHz Hummingbird processor are plenty fast, especially with the great sauce the devs are cooking up.
It's mostly because overclocking a single core CPU by 200 mHZ isn't really much of an increase, whereas overclocking my 6 core AMD cpu on my desktop by the same amount is a massive increase in processing speed. Also on a desktop you have much better airflow, ventilation, cooling. Overclocking the phone's cpu will make it run harder and hotter and since we can't increase it's cooling ability it will drastically shorten the chip's lifespan.
Try reflashing the kernel and wiping cache and dalvik a couple times. If that doesn't work we'll move on
Just cleared both a couple times and then reflashed the kernel. Same thing keeps happening. I'm guessing something happened with my data, maybe corrupted it or something. I know this new kernel is uv but it seems like my screen transitions are a little slow. I ran the a benchmark and got 1500 which is the same as the previous kernel. No idea whats going on lol.
Alright so it seems that all my videos that I have recorded are now working but my downloaded videos are not. Not a big deal since I can just re download. Other apps are still freezing, which forces me to take out my battery. I tried following GizmoDroid's steps to the nandroid thing but I couldn't follow step 3 involving adb. Couldn't find it anywhere in CWM. Also could not find the restore nandroid. I did "fix permission" option. Not exactly sure what that did. I also mounted the system in CWM. Volume boost seems to be working as well. In voodoo control I have all the options up.
You guys are just speaking theoretically about overclocking, my personal experience is different.
I agree the benefit in performance on this phone is pretty small, but as far as truly hard bricking the device I doubt that's a significant risk. I ran my Fascinate overclocked for months, as did many other people, and I've never heard of someone having major issues. If it happens it's rare. OC kernels have been available on Eclair since October!
Remember everyone on here used to be afraid of Voodoo too...
Wrong post. I said GizmoDroid's last post in the thread. Ignore what he says about nandroid and just follow these instructions about fixing permissions:
The fix permissions option is working again, but it doesn't verify that /dbdata is mounted first (will be fixed in the next update), so if you are going to run it, make sure you mount /dbdata in the mounts and storage menu, then run the fix permissions option. If you are having trouble after restoring a nandroid, I would suggest running this option.

Alright just did exactly as you said. Rebooted and tried running Townsmen6 as a test because that was one of my apps that was freezing. It still froze in the menu. Do I need to do anything else?
