How to Voodoo ***Updated 27 Mar 2011***KERNEL BUILT FROM SOURCE/SOUND/UNDERVOLTED

I was at 20 MIN and gave up. Anyways might have fixed the kernel problem. I'm running the kernel_update that was mentioned a couple pages ago. It seems it could have been setcpu. I originally had it on 100-1000 and set on boot with on demand settings. So I set it down to 800 conservative with set on boot turned off. Now I haven't had one freeze going on 2 hrs. Voodoo control is also working =)

Edit - Doesn't freeze at all unless the screen turns off. Then it wont come back on and am forced to pull battery or CWM. *sigh*
Edit - Now its back to freezing randomly
Edit - Great, now the EC10 that was working for me all the time is freezing...

Uninstall SetCPU

I had NO luck with SetCPU.. Every attempt to set it up ended the same way... Lock up &/or sleep of death requiring a battery pull. I have heard tales of people who can get it to work.. I was never so lucky.

I used it for 48 hours (frustrating hours) - then just gave up. Uninstalled - lesson learned.

Your stats say that you are running ComaVolt. I was wondering if you actually needed SetCPU in order to use these aggressively undervolted kernels or not, are you having luck with it?

You don't need SetCPU for any kernel people are currently using. The only time it was "necessary" for this phone was back in October when overclock kernels defaulted to 800mhz and you needed SetCPU to set the OC.

Nope - Not running it. Haven't had it on my phone in months. At least October.
NOsquid is correct. No need.

I have had NO LUCK with SetCPU at all (last attempt to run it on an overclockable kernel was DL09).. long time ago.

I took your advice and deleted setcpu. Also while I was in CWM I decided to get the fixed version of CWM that just came out along with flashing SC 2.9.2 just to be safe. I then flashed Jt's kernel and its working! Finally! (Fingers crossed) Not sure if it was a combination of all the things I did or just setcpu but everything is working smooth. No SoD either. Just thought I would put my findings down just in case anyone else ran into this problem. =)

thank you

lets say for whatever reason i would want to go back to nonvoodoo, can i disable lag fix then flash the nonvoodoo kernel?

Corrects the color balance, stock has a blue/cold hue. Correction only works at 100% right now

Oh my bad, ty much. I guess I just assumed it had been included after the fact

Nope. Usually a good assumption. Just check the OP. Adrynalyne is super good about updating the OP if he makes changes to the ROM. Actually come to think of it, it seems like he waits until he has quite a few things to change, then just puts out a new version rather than just adding one thing to the current version.

I was hoping someone could clarify ...is the link in the superclean sticky to adrynalyne's "Changelog" EC10 kernel (downloads as kernel_update.zip) the same kernel as the new JT one posted here? If it isn't, is it more undervolted like it reads in Adrynales sticky? and if so, will that increase my battery life?
Thanks so much guys. First post ... you guys all rock and make technology fun.

i need to update the op. there are acutally several vooodoo kernels now. check out jaekar's thread for links to all kernels. the one on the super clean thread is not source built.

Well that was just the coolest thing ever! Easy too. I was already on SC2.9.2nv so I just flashed JT's newest voodoo kernel and in less than 5 minutes I was back up and running. Confirmed with the mount command that I have been converted! Now I need to grab Voodoo Control so I can enjoy my phone as a music player.

Thanks for the guide!
