How's the update?

What about the disappearing apps in the media area? Has this been fixed on the new update?

No, not in any of the updates to my knowledge.

I've just grown accustomed to making sure no new apps go to Media Area so I don't have to worry about them disappearing.

I could use some help understanding this, if you would.

Using Manage Apps, I see that both the Downloaded and All tabs show 422MB used and 3.5GB free and the Media area tab shows 1.3GB used and 6.7GB free.

About 12 of my 20+ downloaded apps show in the media area, but I don't think they have 'disappeared'. They are all in my app drawer and all work fine.

Should those in the media area be moved to somewhere else? If so, to where and do it using the 'Files' app in the drawer?

I never understood all the furor about the Disappearing Apps in various Bionic forums.

TIA, to anyone with info.

Under the Media Area tab are the apps eligible to go there, if they have a green check mark then they are IN the Media Area, and are prone to disappearing randomly on you. Those are ones you should tap on, and hit Move to Phone. If there are none with check marks then none are actually in the media area so no need to worry.

OK, thanks . None are checked, so guess I'll just check on new ones as time goes by.

Did the pics of my Battery life in the other thread look any different than they appear before the OTA?

When is the update coming? Because my phone still says nothing.

It rolls out it batches, not everyone gets it at once. It could be immediate or take a few weeks from what I have heard for everyone to receive it.

Just keep manually checking every now and again. Also, don't know if you are rooted and ROM'd, but the aftermarket ROMs do not work well with the stock system update check.

Just got the update @ 1AM here in the D.C. area. Installed without issues. Will post more info when I have more use on it.

Checked for an update about 20 mins ago and it started to download it. The download went quickly but the install took forever. Once the phone restarted itself, it stayed on the red DROID eye screen for what seemed like an eternity. I thought about pulling the battery but after 5 mins it finally booted.

I was at 60% battery when I dled the update. Now that the install is done, I'm at 5% with the flashing red light. I guess make sure you're plugged in or at 100% before you start.

Haven't played too much with it ; gonna charge it overnight and give it a go tomorrow

its not necessarily the phones battery dropped that much but flashing a new system and the phone needs to rebuild the battery .bin files. Happens when you swap ROMs too.

Got the update. Tried installing but keep getting the "installation failed" message after reboot. Defrosted all apps and even did a factory reset. Still getting the same error. What the hell am I missing here?

thanks - that's probably it. hopefully this thing sees an improvement today

Just got the update. Camera is twice as fast which is great. I will test out the connection throughout the day and post tonight how it goes. Also the battery use. Ive seen several posts saying the battery use was greatly increased also.

Got the prompt to install bright and early this morning. Took about 10 minutes and it went off without a hitch.

So far, I see:
- the headphone whine is completely gone! I expect to hear it before Slacker puts on the first song but I was shocked to hear nothing.
- the camera's AF seems faster. I still won't be able to take very quick action shots but that's not what camera phones are for.
- ? about the battery. I have a live, HD wallpaper that would suck up any battery it can. 2 weeks and I go back to static wallpapers.
- everything seems faster and it was fast to begin with.

Overall, it looks good. :)

Just installed the update this morning and am pleased so far:

- toggle between 3G and 4G/LTE is much better
- Camera auto-focus is improved
- confirmed ForeverRoot works as my phone is still rooted after update

So far this appears to be a winner :)

My camera speed is now that of a normal phone, the whine is gone, and I'll have to assess the data stuff when I get out of this tunnel!

Much like everyone else is reporting, the camera auto-focus speed is MUCH improved and the headphone whine is completely gone. I never had the data connectivity issues or the black screen of death problems, so I can't comment on those. Overall the phone seems snappier - apps seem to load more quickly and transitions seem smoother (I might credit this to improved memory management - more on this as I get further usage on this code). This could just be the shine of a new patch, though. :)

So far so good! Moto gets two thumbs-up from me on this update.
