Hey guys, i've been having a weird problem with my htc 10 where it randomly won't let me receive calls or texts until I reset the device. I've swapped my SIM, factory reset, and no one else around me on the same network is having the same issue? I'm thinking hardware issue? Anyone have something else for me to try? It's unlocked, currently using T-Mobile network.

I had that same issue when switching my unlocked from T-Mobile to MetroPCS. I called in and MetroPCS did some things on their end that fixed it.

I called when I swapped my sim and said that should fix any issues. I'm on the phone with HTC now trying to see what's up

Please keep us updated on this. I would suggest turning your network connections off and on again, but of resetting the device worked and then the issue persisted, I don't think that would do any good. Signal strength could be the culprit but as you've said, others on your network are getting those notifications... What is your signal strength like?

Signal strength is fine whenever it does it. I've put it in diagnostic mode and turned off the network and the problem still persists. HTC support answered immediately then put me on hold for 35 minutes. Ended up hanging up, i'm gonna try again tomorrow.

I'm so sorry they seemed to give you the runaround. Let us know how tomorrow goes.

Yes, I'm having the same issue. Ticking me off. I'm on T-Mobile as well but I'm not using an unlocked version.

Done everything I can myself that people have suggested (other forums for other phones) such as resetting the network settings, turning off VoLTE, etc. Haven't gone in to T-Mobile to get a new SIM, but I figure that's coming - just have to find the time.

It all started after the update in August. I was hoping the latest update on T-Mobile (1.81.531.10) would have solved it, but no luck.

I had this problem and called T-Mo today...they were very helpful. After going through the network troubleshooting without success, the tech asked me about call blocking apps that I may have...and surely enough after I uninstalled "Calls Blacklist" everything all good now as confirmed by a test call from the tech. It might be worth a shot to uninstall any phone call associated apps you may have (e.g. call blocker, custom dialer, etc.)

Good suggestion. I finally made it to T-Mobile yesterday to have them look at my phone. They cleared the cache data (why this should have to be manually done or if it'll actually help, who knows) and replaced my SIM card. So far, so good, but it'll probably take a few days to figure out whether things aren't getting through. If I get a skype message from my wife on my desktop at work telling me "your phone is sending me to VM", I'll know it's not working.

The only custom dialer or call blocker I have installed is TrueCaller. I may see if the TMO changes worked. If so, then I'll keep it. If it starts failing again, I'll try uninstalling that.

Still having the issue after having swapped out my SIM, so I'm going to try uninstalling TrueCaller. Really hoping this fixes it but I'm not holding my breath. It's aggravating, because besides this issue, I think it is an otherwise wonderful phone. Of course, it's probably not the hardware, but still.

Did the uninstall of Truecaller work?

Try turning your network connections off and then on again, and see what happens. I would contact your carrier about this, as it may be something to do with signal or perhaps the phone itself is experiencing some kind of issue; in which case maybe it would have to be swapped.

Too early to tell. Only uninstalled it last night. I'll know in the next few days. If I get a phone call or message from my wife via Viber instead of my phone app or messaging, I'll know. The thing that makes it so frustrating is that it seems random and a reboot fixes the issue for a while.

Been in once already and they cleared my cache data (that would have been the dumbest fix ever) and gave me a new SIM. Neither worked. I've also reset all the network connections which is a pain since I have to reconnect all my wireless & BT connections. Didn't seem to have an effect.

I have an Android update right now so I'm hoping that might address it.

I'm sorry that you went through all that with no favourable results! Keep us in the loop with what happens!

Even though the OP had tried a factory reset, after getting a new SIM, clearing the cache (actually, a TMO employee did that), uninstalling various apps, I finally bit the bullet and did a factory reset. Still no luck. My experience that started out as great phone is quickly turning sour. I got the phone in late June I can't prove it, but I'm pretty sure the trouble started after the August security update. At this point, I'm trying one other thing, which is leaving the phone on WiFi calling which I don't like to do because it transitions so poorly between WiFi and cellular. (When I get a personal call at work I often leave my office wifi coverage and I end up losing the call.)

T-Mobile has said my other option is a warranty replacement, which means a refurbed device which doesn't thrill me. Also, given that I'm not the only one with the problem I don't know how much I believe that will help. I'm also hoping that maybe Nougat will help - if the update ever makes it's way to the 10 (via T-Mobile).

So, the thread seems kind of dead, but I said I'd post some follow-up and so I am.

I did re-enable wifi calling and had pretty good luck. Since I did that, no my more Viber or Skype messages from my wife telling me "your phone is sending me to voice mail," which is a good thing. The only exception that was this weekend while I was at home. Both my wife and a friend of mine said they were being sent to voice mail, although texts were getting through, which they typically haven't when the phone started acting up. Despite that one blip, though, I've not had the issues that I was experiencing. I still think it's software related, and not hardware. In general, the phone does *not* seem to transition well from wifi to cellular, which I suspect is part of what causes the issue.

I've noticed that putting the phone in airplane mode, waiting a few seconds and then taking it out of airplane mode seems to make thing work better. Maybe it's in my head.

Regardless, I plan to leave my phone with wifi calling enabled as it does make it better.

Is anyone having any issues with the unlocked ver on T-Mobile's network? This is important to me as I'm considering buying this phone pretty soon.

Edit: Think the OP answered my question for me. Hmm. Might have to hold off on this purchase.

I have an unlocked 10 that I use on AT&T occasionally and I had a call get sent directly to voicemail last week. Fortunately, it was a political recording, but not getting the call or even having it show up in the call log is pretty concerning. I had the phone given to me and I usually use another phone, so it is not a huge deal for me, but I thought I would chime in here. I had the same experience with other HTC phones many years ago.
