HTC and Sprint just made an iPhone/Verizon customer of me

Get over it and pay $35 to get it fixed right away. It's a lot cheaper than a single line's difference in monthly fee you'll be paying after the switch.

I smell troll but if it's not, sorry if it's not, you can like others have stated go to a repair center and they will just swap out the phone for you. Not even sure why you would call HTC.

They don't even NEED the insurance to cover anything for the first 12 mos when it's a hardware issue. If it's rooted, tough nuts.

TEP is only needed if it's lost, stolen, liquid damaged, etc. OR the other half of TEP is when you're out of warranty (12mos) or within warranty and something needs repair because of use/abuse and not because of a manufacturing defect.

Read your agreements folks.

I know he doesn't NEED the insurance if it is in the first 12 months, but it doesn't hurt to have it and it DOES make dealing with Sprint easier if you have it. Plus, they don't make you pay the $35

Definitely a troll. If not, where is he/she?

Heck some of these comments probably scared the person away, especially with all the attacks made on the OP for posting it. Sometimes people just want to vent I'm sure the OP is sorry they even started this post!:-\

I understand the necessity to vent, but dont thow the "iphone" threat down on an Android based website. thats like walking into the Steelers lockerroom and yelling GO PACKERS!!! see what happens.... lol

Come on you can tell he was one of them people that was waiting for the cry-phone to hit another carrier hit the door just don't let the door hit you fan boy

Perhaps you misunderstood Sprint or they made a mistake because it simply doesn't work that way most of the time. Inside of 30 days, take it in...drop it off...get your money back. After the 30 you're still under warranty for a total of 12 mos. Walk it into a Sprint (factory) store with repairs and let them attempt to fix it. If they can't, you get a replacement phone. No $35, no $100, just a simple replacement. It'll almost certainly be a refurb but it remains under your initial 12 month warranty coverage. If you don't live near a Sprint store, call them and tell them of the problem and ask to have your call escalated. They will send you a replacement phone (refurb) and you send your broken one in. Simple as that. I've seen both methods used within the past week. My wife's Evo was outside of 30, but within warranty and had the loose USB issue. They looked at it, said it wasn't repairable and walked out with an in-box refurb. 20 minutes later...out the door. One of my co-workers was on vacation and called Sprint with an issue. They sent him a replacement at his vacation address.

Not sure why it was your day to hear bullsh!t, but it's not the way it works.

Incorrect. If you dont have the insurance it doesn't matter if your in you first 12 months or not...its going to be $35. They changed this a few months back.

does anyone know what verizon insurance covers? Unlike, Sprint Att does not screens.

Dude your making no sense. Get a Sanyo Katana off eBay for $30 and use it for a little bit while you get a new phone. Its important to have a backup phone anyway. Just because you have a camera problem you don't have to leave Android. I had a seperating screen after launch day and had to wait. Its going to cost you a lot more to switch.

(It's obvious that the Op doesn't have any insurance on their phone.) To the Op(official poster) - you would either have to pay to get it fix, or wait two weeks for HTC to diagnose and fix the problem. Whichever you choose - that's up to you. Not having insurance on any smartphone is not a smart decision. Let me tell you this... it's not different on any other carriers - it would have been the same, or worse.

Ahhhh Yes.... and going to an iPhone, ON VERIZON... that will be an improvement!!!!

Good luck with that and have fun with that down grade of an iPhone!!!

Good Point LOL:-!

I threw my EVO in the toilet and then tried to dry it in the microwave. Sprint won't fix it for free. Boo hoo... Now I HAVE to complain and get an inferior phone... I'm awesome!

(FYI - I would never drop my EVO in the toilet or dry it in the microwave. I'm smarter than that)

Policy or not, I just did it a week ago and I know of at least two other people that have returned Evos the same way in the past 6 weeks. Not a dime out of pocket. It's the store on LaSalle Street in the loop in Chicago.

But, for the sake of disclosure and sharing of information, would you please cut and paste the written change in policy so we can all have it for future reference?
