Battery draining quite rapidly - i have the 2.1 update

I don't know how this started but the other day, I noticed, at work, that my battery life was down to half where as days prior, it was at 88 - 92 percent. There aren't many apps installed; only a couple of games, handcent (the latest), Screebl lite and a few others.

It's been about 2 days now and things have progressively gotten worse. My eris is at the point where it won't charge unless I put it in airplane mode, or I turn off the wireless and bluetooth. When I checked the Battery Status, it indicated that its health was good but, I noticed that "Battery Use" showed everything at low values but Screebl Lite was at about 40 - 50 percent! I've never had a problem with Screebl but I uninstalled it. As I'm typing this, the Cell Phone standby usage is at 41 percent. The uptime is 22hrs but the awake time is 19hrs.

Can't say that I'm well versed in the Android system but I'm guessing some process isn't sleeping correctly, which could explain the high awake time and battery drain. BTW, I'm running 2.1

Thanks in advance!

I'm assuming this is the 2.1 leak. This is because of cell standby. You need to find the tutorial on how to resolve this problem...somewhere in the eris archives lol

Seidio 3500mAh Extended Battery

Any comments on this extended battery? I just received mine two days ago and in the process of conditioning.

There is now a HTC side case that fits the Hero and other HTC phones (Best Buy). This one works with the Eris and the larger battery.

I tried the airplane on/off and it didn't work. That thing is awake 100% of the time. Couldn't find that "Tutorial" on cell standby. I'm thinking/hoping a factory reset will do the trick.

1. Plug in phone charger

2. Put phone in Airplane mode

3. Put phone to sleep for a minute

4. Turn off airplane mode

5. Unplug phone

mitchell.23 and all - thank you. I think your full instruction worked. Is this the fix or will I need to do this every time I reboot the phone? Also, what caused this to happen out of no where?

I think this patched my problem on the Hero. We are kinda sorta using the same rom with DamageControl. I was getting 50% without signal and damn near or at 100% up time. Gone all day and I'm at 66% now (Bigger battery than stock). So I should get about 48h now.

Same issue I had today, went to my little girl's competition and lost about 10 percent between the car and the building.

It's not working folks. The up time is still = to awake time. Woke up this morning and it dropped 20% in a half hour. Will a factory reset help?

I have had mine for quite some time, and it works great. Drain it down a couple of times and fully rechage it overnight. It works GREAT!

It's pretty bulky. I'll snap a picture and upload it later.

I like the fact that if I'm on it all day I won't be worried driving home if I can make a phone call or not.
