HTC EVO 4G LTE Camera Shots: Lets see them here!

All I have so far is food porn, and an weird panoramic shot where my husband looks like a ghost.

Two food shots from me.

I think they look great.

One is tiny bit washed out because the 5 Guys Burger joint was brightly lit.

Macro is touch and go on this phone...u have to trick it into focusing on object. I have to get up to 6 inches away for macro to work..Samsung epic I could get up to 3 inches with no problem. :-$

I have mastered this phones camera, if you need advice or questions about settings and how to get the best focus of pictures just hit me up with a message.

You know, from what I'm seeing, I think theVerge.com pretty much nailed the description of the camera in their review:

"HTC has built a fantastic camera system, without building a fantastic camera. The app is great, with tons of options and filters available easily; the ImageSense chip in the Evo makes the camera insanely fast, able to take up to 200 shots in rapid succession through a burst mode. Its pictures are good, but not great — dynamic range in particular leaves a lot to be desired, so you'll often have half your picture dark and the other half bright, or half properly exposed and the other half totally blown out. Colors also look a bit washed out, even in good lighting. The 8-megapixel sensor captures good images in good light, and is certainly one of the better smartphone cameras out there, but no one's ever going to think your photos came from anything but a phone."

Over-the-top descriptions of this phone's camera in reviews (including Phil's) have yet to be seen in the picture samples I've seen.

Love these fantastic photos all... Keep em coming. This is clearly the best camera on android at the moment so enjoy.:);)

Pretty much. I think people are just so used to HTC's pics being so terrible that they're happy just to have decent ones but these pics are definitely far from great.

Let's face it, there are so many envious non Evo owners out there who are hoping they get a camera half as good when they up grade to their next phone. Sorry not buying your fetched up stories. The pictures in this thread show how great the camera is...:);):D:thumbup:

Mercury, are you a robot built by htc? I see you post painfully upbeat and positive things in the face of problems in practically every thread I read, lol. While I'm sure a few of the complaints are blown a tad out of proportion and that this probably is a great phone overall, I do see a lot of issues on these forums that seem significant, as well as many flaws with the pictures in this thread. There are some great ones though. I dont think anyone here is just mulling around jealous of this phone because they cant get it...that wouldnt really make sense.

Im personally trying to decide if this is the phone for me or if I should wait for the SG3, so reading about peoples issues is very helpful, and it's why these forums are here! It'd be pointness if everyone just made posts saying " I love this phone! Everyone chime in and say how great it is"

One of the things that bothers me most about this camera, and I don't think it's been mentioned... is that it is too wide. Seems to me to be around a 30mm equivalent (or less) on a DSLR, which is probably good for landscapes, but terrible for people, particularly close up. Such distortion, and hard to get close because of that problem.

Some company needs to come up with an optical zoom, or at least a separate lens that fixes this issue. There may be hope for something aftermarket for the Evo because of the cover having a possibility of a corrective lens instead of just a simple filter.

Def. not the top 3 smartphone cameras....but def. is a very good camera in the proper lighting.

Its not better than the iPhone 4 or Sony's optics on the latest phone. but its better than the OG Evo for sure. Some pics from today:

I will note, pictures look a lot less washed out on the phone screen.

Change your ratio to standard, that makes pictures of people look much better.

So far camera seems pretty good but then again I don't have much to compare it to atm definitely has some focusing issues and HDR mode makes everything redish even when saturation is -1. I have managed to take some fairly nice pics though for $200 and free activiation though its kind of hard for me to seriously complain about this phone.

i posted this in another camera thread and decided to copy it here since there are also people here complaining about the quality of the camera...

i dont know if i ever read that the picture quality was supposed to be worlds better than the iphone. i think thats just something people assumed and as usual it spread around the net as gospel. but after all, theyre both 8 megapixel cameras. i think the things htc was touting was the features of the camera. such as the hi-def video and ability to snap photos while recording video. thats pretty cool. you can also snap photos while playing back a video. also the burst mode shooting. the ability to shoot 100 photos in 20 seconds is pretty amazing. plus whatever other features they were advertising. i think thats the problem that people are having. somewhere along the way people assumed that this camera would produse dslr-type pics over the iphone when that isnt necessarily the case. it's what you can DO with the camera that makes it better...
