HTC EVO 4G LTE: Cleared by Customs

What do you suppose "droid" is short for?

Right, but "Droid" is a specific line of Android devices on Verizon. When someone asks if I have a "Droid," they could be referring to the original Motorola Droid. Though I'm smart enough to know they think that's what all Android devices are called.

I understand what you mean, that yes "Droid" covers models from all of those brands. However the original Droid was by Motorola. I was referencing the specific device, not just the brandname in that instance.

All the same......impulses towards physical violence might be a bit of an overreaction. :)

Apple reminds me of a company that always want to be on top. News Flash, Apple...it doesn't work like that.

God don't like a rotten apple. :p

UPDATE: Some of our EVOs have cleared customs, but not entire shipment. Updating blog w/details in the next few minutes.

They seriously can't just test a handful of phones and give the go ahead? They're going to have to test each shipment? What a complete cluster this process is

Honestly they are treating this like some kind of giant scandal and htc completely copied the icrap, it's one feature just test one phone and you've tested them all, gtfo ITC and apple. Such a waste of everyone's time, our tax dollars, and causing unnecessary losses for Sprint, htc, and its investors. Then of course us, the consumers are losing out to garbage politics and apple's invisible hand in the gov't.

From droiddoes.com:

"DROID is a trademark of Lucasfilm, Ltd. and its related companies."

So even if "Droid" was short for "Android" (which it obviously could be, and is being used as word play here), the "DROID" line is being used by Motorola & Verizon as a branding tool. Therefore, not every Android phone is a "DROID", and I likewise get irritated when they're referred to that way.

Sidenote: DROID is a line used by Verizon.

Even though Motorola has made the bulk of the DROID-line, they're not the sole manufacturer of DROID-branded smartphones.
