HTC EVO 4G Software Update - 4.53.651.1

Hello, So you indicated that your friend already had his phone updated to 4.53.651.1 and you were still able to root it? I rooted my EVO Aug 14 using Revolutionary, Can I update to get 4.53.651.1 and it will not turn s-on to s-off.

Sorry I'm scaredddddddddddddd to lose root

I just want the fix for voice to text.

Thank you
NRHTX

You could just wait for the rooted update to come out!

Sent from Looney Tunes Central!

I'm not sure if that will work but if it does turn off S-Off, then just use Revolutionary again. I think I've seen others install it and nothing happened to their root.

Good luck. As soon as I get the update, I'm gonna give it a shot and update. I haven't seen any ROM updates with the new fixes yet and I'm tired of waiting.

Just got the update in Ohio. Not sure about the changes yet, but talk to text while driving now works for me.

Beyond want to update but when I did it went to recovery and then a Orange bar which showed the progress but when it was like a quarter of it it showed an Android guy with an exclamation mark.
Any help..I'm rooted and on stock

Just got the update. Didn't really have any problems before, but very appreciative of any updates. :D

Temporarily unrooted me.

Just an FYI on my experience with the update. I'm rooted

1. It would not install automatically. The package installer would stop and give an "!". Rebooting returned me to normal but no update.

2. I changed from clockworkmod recovery to RA. And then the update installed. Strange but true.

3. When I rebooted I got the famous "processcom.htc.launcher" force close loop. I was able to fix that with a bit of cleverness (if you have the same problem, let me know.) I strongly recommended that you clear data for HTC Sense under manage applications before installing this update.

3. I became unrooted! However, I was able to reroot no proble.

Now it is all working fine, it seems.

Good luck.

Just got the update here in Ohio too, can't wait to see if it fixed the talk to text while driving problem for me!!! Glad to hear it fixed yours :)

I updated an hour ago and did not loose root. Still shows s-off. Not sure what all this update does, its still 2.3.3

Be careful, this update has bricked my SMS. I can receive but not send. Running stock software. I get "SMS Radio Interface Resource Shortage" Details:SMS Error, Cause Code 64, Error Class 2"

Got the same thing & I'm also rooted and on stock. I pulled the battery and reinserted and that got me back going again. But after restarting, I was again prompted with the "Do you want to install this update?" screen and I hit OK and ended right back at exclamation point. Pulled the battery again and restarted and again was asked about installing the update - this time I said "Discard".

See post 29, see if that helps.

Anyone having txting issues since the update? Sometimes when I go to txt, the keyboard will open, but the keys won't respond.

Received the update this weekend (by manual check) here in NW Florida Panhandle. Swype will not work in landscape mode but does in other mode. WTF? Anyone else?
