htc holiday rumored at&t device

OK, we've now had two separate views of Holidays out on beta testing, the latest being today on BGR. Both phones looked like the broken craigslist phone, but fully functional. The BGR posting reposted here also showed LTE capabilities. So far, I like what I see in front and performance-wise. I have to agree with other commenters that the back needs a Major rework, including a kickstand. I hope HTC looks through forums like this for some feedback. The phone looks killer but the styling needs work: kickstand, smooth out the contours, etc. I'm hoping these are beta phones and not the RTM form. Overall, I still want this phone, especially if they deal with these issues. Now, if the camera has optical zoom and the battery is mongo enough to have a decent life, then I'll deal with the back if they'd put in the kickstand.

Latest gossip from my local Radio Shack guy (who is also eagerly awaiting the Holiday) is that it should be coming out in November, to place it right for ...wait for it... the holidays. LOL :p . This is second hand info that he reports from the HTC rep who services that store (in CT).

Well, that sucks. There are going to be a few phones prior to November that will be very tempting. Hopefully they release some more detailed specs (mainly cosmetic, like a nicer back) to let us know if this is worth waiting for...

He did report that the rep told him that the chip is being upgraded to 1.5 GHz dual core (I'm definitely all for that). I'm hoping for a better back design that would accomodate higher capacity batteries and a kickstand. The specs I'm really waiting to see are internal storage and actual RAM. I want to see 16GB and 1 or 2 GB, respectively.

why would they want to upgrade this there was nothing wrong with the specs the way they had it I just really want this phone and I dont want to wait till after the stupid fruit comes out

So do you think it will be pushed back until after the Atrix 2 release? ATT will probably release it first since the original Atrix was first. Either way, they are probably both after the iphone 5 release which gay in itself.

The specs look decent, especially the 16GB internal/1GB RAM. Battery is a bit small at 1650 but not bad. The side view shows the back not being quite as rancid as the straight on views made it out to be, but still no kickstand. They'd better have a dock and a car dock for it.

Well, courtesy of our friends on the front page (Thank you, Mr. Parsons), we now know that the Holiday (Raider?) Has received the FCC's blessings. The question now occurs, how long from here to release?

maybe during the holidays. today's announcements at ctia had no mention of this device. i think we will now see it at the end of the year. att is not going to let anything do battle with their ultimate possesion-the iphone 4s.

They've already set up that battle since they've got the SGS2 available. I'm still waiting for the Holiday/Raider by strong preference, though that GS2 is getting good reviews. I want the future-proofing of the LTE capability.

the sgs2 is doing very well for att. i am currently debating between the iphone 5, sgs2, and the htc holiday. the holiday and the the 5 are the two i want.

Whatever I go with, it won't be the crApple. I'll go with the GS2 or the Holiday. The Cupertino species of fruit is entirely too proprietary and un-customizable for me. My Berry is too darn slow and the specs, even on the newer ones, stink. From here on out, the only fruit I buy is the kind I can eat.

The Leaked photos of the Holiday make the device appear rather ugly. Looks like something out of the early Smartphone era. HTC has better styling than that, give us a freash look and this device will sell really well.

Side Note: The Raider sounds much better than Holiday.

Do you think AT&T and HTC are waiting for the LTE rollout to be more wide spred like Verizon and Sprint did on the Thunderbolt and EVO?

If they're going to have an LTE network anywhere, it would make sense to have an LTE capable phone to use on it. Other folk are going to want to have them for when they roll it out in their towns. Makes further sense to come big (in both senses) on the initial phone for that network. The Holiday/Raider, as shown in the Raider Korean release pic, isn't as bad as the leak pix portrayed it. I was afraid it would be a brick (in the physical sense), given what the early (August/September) pix showed. It's reasonably thin, and it's gonna be living in a hard case anyway. In my line of work (aircraft maintenance), carrying my phone in a pocket is not a good idea. It has to be both safe from the beatings and secure on my person (so as not to become a foreign object/debris (FOD) hazard). A Seidio Convert or equivalent case, and belt holster is likely to be my Holiday/Raider's home 95% of the time.

Fine, that may be their codename for it. My only question is when the heck they're going to release it. I'm getting tired of waiting. Much as I want one of these, I may end up with a GS2 just to get rid of this stinking Blackberry I'm stuck with.

I think AT&T is waiting to clear more of its GS2 inventory. I was going to buy a GS2, but decided to wait a bit. Several issues with the GS2, biggest being wifi reception is really giving me pause. Also the age of the device. Yes new to AT&T, but my friend from Germany has had his since Spring. Seems like a lot of Android users buy new phones every six months, but I need to keep mine for the next two years so I am going to wait and see what comes out over the next 30 days.
