htc holiday rumored at&t device

Hearing about the possible delay of the Galaxy S2, due to AT&T bending over backwards for Apple. (rumor is Apple is leaning hard on AT&T to hold off on releasing high-end devices until after Apple's iPhone 5 drops)

I'm am thinking that the HTC Holiday will also be delayed until after the Sammy GS2. Late October? November? So will you still want the Holiday when it is released? There will be many viable options by then. When will AT&T's LTE 4G be a usable network for the mainstream consumers?

Speaking purely for myself, the GS2 is impressive, but I'm not impressed by the Touchwiz interface, and Sammy does not have a good rep when it comes to core software updates. I do like the Sense UI, especially after seeing it up close and personal in my wife's Inspire. Further, my upgrade comes due right about that end of October time frame you speculate of, so it fits right in with my plans. As for for ATT's LTE implementation, no matter how slowly they implement it, you kind of have to have devices (such as the Holiday and GS2) to use on it.

As for the Apple rumor, that would not surprise me. They are showing themselves to be even bigger bullies than the big bad Redmond machine. They demand absolute control over the user experience, to which I say: Up Yours, Cupertino. Once I get rid of the BB I currently suffer with, I will be able to say that the only fruit I deal with is the kind I can eat.

I wouldn't be surprised either if Apple did that. Their suing Sammy left and right over Products so why not try to stop them from competing with the I5. It wont stop Sammy from releasing the phone on Sprint anyway. Unless Sprint gets the I5. It will good for Sprint to carry it but Partnering up with Google will be better for them.
As for Touchwiz and Sense UI's they shouldn't be a bother since you can get a different UI from the market. Hardware and build should be most important, You can't change those things.
I am interested to see the confirmed and full Specs of the Holiday. Good luck with your next phone...

Pocketnow reports on a htc device coming to at&t called holiday. It has a 4.5 inch screen, two 8 megapixel cameras on the back, 1.3 up front along with 1.2ghz dual core processor, 1gb of RAM and qHD screen. I am assuming this is going to be a 3D device since it has the 2 cameras around back.

Yikes!

Initial concerns regarding this device was the 4.5" screen.

Will the Holiday be an ICS release and, thus, the 4.5" screen won't make this a mini-tablet?

Holiday is supposed to release with Gingerbread 2.3.4. I haven't seen or heard of rumored devices releasing with ICS.

I haven't seen anything recently to update the info that's been out since May/June. What I've seen makes me want one, but I'd love to see some newer info. My upgrade isn't until the end of October, so I suffer along with my beat up, slower than molasses BB9700.

@Fireshot91 - I went over there, and it looks impressive. Probably a dev prototype, if it's real. Love the specs shown, too. It would be a really good idea for them to go to Gorilla glass for the screen if this is any indication. I would expect production versions to be smoothed out significantly. I want the real version ASAP.

ya engadets got it covered here: HTC Holiday prototype shows up on Craigslist, gives us reason to celebrate -- Engadget

I sure hope that isn't the final design, that back looks awful. If so it looks like SGII for me...

Yeah, I agree, that back ain't all that. That's what made me think it was a developmental prototype when I first followed the link and looked at it. On further research over at XDA, it is exactly that, a prototype. I also agree that they need to do something with that back, and it needs a kickstand. This is supposed to be their new highest of high - end phones and needs to have all the features to match that rep.

@Lucidlyseen - I'm impressed with the GS2 as far as hardware and styling, but much less so with their reputation for poor software support and updating. I am also more impressed with the Sense UI than I am with Touchwiz. Hopefully, the fine folks at HTC are refining the final form of the device as we type.

I would agree with you there, however my wife has the Infuse and it is a damn nice phone. So after seeing that and using it I would not hesitate to go with the SG2. With that said, I have always liked the HTC build quality and Sense better, so I am still hoping they get it together with the Holiday as that would be my first choice.

I agree with experience. My wife has an Inspire and there's a wide variety of Android phones among my colleagues at work, including Galaxies, assorted other Sammy's, assorted Moto's, Evo's, MyTouch slides and Thunderbolts. From what I've seen, admittedly from a side view, I like the Sense UI. I'm currently stuck with a BB9700, which is dead slow and has puny screen real estate. Everything I've seen so far tells me I want that Holiday when my upgrade comes at the end of October.
