Looks like Sense UI will see some improvements soon?. I for one prefer sense over stock UI because of the widgets and how polished they are? I like launcher pro but couldn?t leave my sense widgets? I do believe the launcher and the three buttons at the bottom need to be revamped as well as the app drawer though.. For one I never use the plus sign to add a widget? Something more useful could definitely go there like texts or something.. I know it takes longer for updates but im not all that impatient so I can wait? Even though im a little irritated about the whole FB contact sync issue right now I cant wait to see what they do..

HTC to enhance Sense UI, new version coming soon

I personally never used any HTC widgets... except the settings ones like 4g/mobile(3g)/wifi toggles and whatnot.

But will like to see what comes of it.
Some people swear by HTC widgets, but I don't know what's so great about them.

I don't even like the clock/weather widget... it's too stock-like.

Personally I just love how they look, and that they are scrollable... Alot of widgets have the same functionality or a little better but look like crap... Even the weather widget.. The animations are great and the widget looks polished and works great for the most part.. Beatiful widgets weather widget is cool but its really buggy sometimes the temp is off etc..

Seems like great news but is unclear if this "enhanced" Sense will be released as an upgrade for existing models.

The greatest enhancement I like to see in any future Sense release is making Sense an option rather than the default UI of the phone, letting the user full control over which to use.

I love the widgets. Especially the Twitter app/widget. Hands down better than the other Twitter apps. I've used them all but I ended up just using the HTC Peep. I love the weather/clock widget too. It may look"stock", but personally I think it's the nicest weather/clock widget you can get

i believe gingerbread is supposed to have a lot better UI experience. that may be the reason for the update.

Personally, i hope Gingerbread takes away any need for any type of Skin.. if not only for the fact that it slows down the update process.

The question i have is.. if Gingerbread really revamps the UI and we all agree that its better than Sense, will we even have the option of having vanilla android at that point since we own an HTC device that came with Sense from the beginning? Will they force us to use Sense unless we root and install a stock rom?

The fact that this is an issue only makes me desire the ability to turn sense (or any skin) on or off, by making skins an option.

Quoted for truth. I like the sense UI for the most part. But really think they should offer it as an option to be used(or not used) by the user.

Someone mentioned a option that I thought may be a good idea that I heard... They said that manufactures should give you the phone using stock android, but also give you the option to install their custom UI out of the market free of charge if you buy their hardware. If you have a HTC phone you should be able to install the skin for free.. That way if you dont want it then its not just on there slowing your phone down...

Impossible. Sense UI is far more than just a UI skin. So much that "installing" such a thing, or even making it optional, is impossible.

Sense is garbage, yes. But just a skin? No.

Dang that sucks... Looks like ill be sticking with sense phones then till better widgets etc are created.. Cuz I like the specs on the new samsung phones but that touch wiz looks like garbage!! now thats a phone that should have been stock android for sure and although motorola seems a lil better it still looks ehhhhhh to me although I do like the re-sizable widgets on the x... Although I havent played with froyo yet..

Yeah, I like sense but I agree with the op that the plus sign button is useless.

My wife will never give up the rain drops, windshield wipers and other fun effects of the sense weather widget. I like the feel of it too. It seems clean and easy to organize.

Bueatiful widgets then, combined with the bueatiful live wallpaper. Rains when its raining, clouds pass by when cloudy, get lighting when storms roll in.

really nice combination. Also the bueatiful home widget has hotspots to link to other programs.

Hit the time, and it will open your clock app. Hit the date and it will open calender. Hit weather and it can open weatherbug for radar, ect...

I really like the Froyo quick-launch spots on the left and right of the app drawer. That should replace the plus sign and all-apps arrow (which is available straight from the menu button anyway).

I love sense and believe it has made it easier for people like myself to transition to Android. I still believe there should be an option to have stock like they did before the update because more options the better. But I love Sense. It's the reason I liked using an android phone. If you don't like the widgets then just delete them from the home screen.

I like the Sense UI, but there's one glaring hole that I hope they can fix - gmail integration. The UI needs to talk to and integrate with the native gmail app.

I initially set up the Sense email program to get my gmail via IMAP, but the Sense app didn't do a lot of gmail-specific operations I wanted. I shifted to using the native gmail app and am a lot happier with it, but it does leave some rough edges on the overall device experience.

For example: I love Sense's quick contact widgets. But the email part of them doesn't work for me because Sense doesn't know how to send a message via the gmail app. Same thing with the People app - look up someone and click their email address, and Sense prompts you to add a mail provider, again because it doesn't talk to the gmail client.

YMMV, but for me, an android phone that doesn't integrate well with gmail is kind of broken. They need to fix this.

It does give you the option to email via gmail when you bring up the quick contact menu.
