HTC Nexus Marlin Specs

Between the Nex5 and the 5X, the 5X lasts a decent amount longer. There is a 400 mAh bump between the 2. I suspect the Sailfish will be about the same as the Bullhead.

AS for the Marlin....I will try to keep an open mind. The thing for me is, I have run 3 devices that are 5.5" or better: the ZenFone2, G4, and Note5. In regard to size, I disliked them all.
And for me, I've never owned a phone that big before. But I held my friends Samsung s7 which is 5.5, and it's rather nice. Big change from what I've owned for phones.

I would strongly encourage everyone to avoid telling people what they can and cannot post. Rather than arguing about it, why don't you instead tell us your opinions? What do you like or not like about the "leaks"?

I did like the front facing speakers on my 6P for sure. I talk a lot on the phone (yes I am weird) and having those facing up at my face from my lap while I was driving was nice. I have a Galaxy S7 Edge now and the bottom facing speaker .. while I can hear it .. can sometimes get annoying if the phone slides into me which makes the speaker get muffled. I have to sit the phone sideway now to prevent that. Not a huge deal but the front facing is nice.

I also liked the front facing ones for watching medias at a buddies house or something .. I could crank it up and it sounded really nice coming from a phone :).

Sure. It's the bottom and the ear piece. How much does that change?

It's a notable difference, especially since sound can be thought of as directional. After reading all of your comments here, I'm wondering what your angst is towards front facing speakers. It seems as if anyone who desires that feature, you jump on a soapbox and tell them to go look somewhere else. If front facing speakers aren't for you, fine, but there's no need to get so judgmental in your posts.

Well, I didn't. It was the second time I was quote and attacked though. You seem to keep modding what I say while letting the attacks sit for a while until I defend myself.

I never said that people can't post anything, I QUESTIONED why people keep harping about what the phone is missing.

EDIT: There is such thing as giving an opinion and whining though. People are starting to beat a dead horse about these speakers. I get a pop up to come check, surprise, it's a person whining about speakers.

Please hit the report button if you feel like something needs our attention and we missed it. We hit a lot of threads each day and it's super easy for things to go unnoticed. You can also email me at matt.luciano@mobilenations.com if you think I or my team is being unfair - definitely not intentional if we are. Sorry that's the way it came off.

I don't feel the need to report anything. I have thick skin. I do think I am getting smacked, after people attack me. I defend myself, I am okay with that. If I was in a bar, and we were all talking about phones over beers, and these same 4 people kept harping over these speakers, I would say the same thing in person: Go buy a phone with the features you want.

Personally, I'm excited about the Marlin. My first Nexus is my 6P. I'm hooked. For me, as long as the FPS is on the back and the software gets even better battery life, I'm happy. 32GB is still plenty of storage for me as I utilize the cloud due to an unlimited data plan.

In theory, I enjoy front facing speakers. However, I find the audio quality terrible on the 6P. If the new Nexi have bottom firing speakers that sound great and are loud, it works for me. Hopefully, any changes in the speaker setup will make the phone a bit more manageable. I'm okay with my 6P, but it pushes the upper limits of a phone for me.

I'd agree while heartedly with people buying whatever has the features they want. I know I'm pretty picky and Nexus seems to be moving away from the hardware I like, but I'm not ready to burn down Google based on rumors.

What hardware do you like that Google is moving away from?

For me, I miss the micro SD card. I made a choice though, go Nexus and get updates, or stay with branded, and don't. It took some kicking and screaming, but I made it work.

I waited on the 5x/6p to see what they offered....After having the 5 and 6 , and getting used to wireless charging, I don't want to do without it. Now, these new devices, no word on whether El Goog is running away from wireless charging, if these phones don't have it, I am moving on. My Nexus 6 is still chugging along, other than horrible battery life since new, its a great device. BUT, my next phone will either have a huge battery like the new BLU 5000mAh phone, or it will have wireless charging. I am getting too old to worry about being close to a charger all day long.

I have a Nexus 6P with 128 GB of storage, and if this rumor holds, the good news is that I won't be tempted to upgrade from it.

The only differences I can determine between my current phone and the "HTC Nexus Marlin" are potentially a faster processor and 1 GB more of RAM, a smaller screen, and bottom-firing speakers.

I don't think the first two changes will noticeably improve performance, and the last two changes are a downgrade from the current Nexus 6P's specs. Screen size and speaker placement generate a lot of passion, it appears, but I like the layout of my current phone.

Maybe it's true and the industry has reached a peak with smartphone design - good news for my wallet! :)

100%. The 6P may not be perfect, but it's pretty close, for me, at least. Yes, it's a bit unwieldy at times due to its height, but I can't go back from dual front-facing speakers. The SD 820 might be a bit more efficient, but for my usage, the 810 has been fine. And you'd think Google would pack in a larger battery to take further advantage of a more efficient processor, but no. So, unless there's an upgraded 6P in the pipeline somewhere, I can't justify doling out cash for essentially an all around downgrade.

I don't know how I feel about this news, I'll hold out until more leaks and specs become available. i for one love the 6P and so far based off of what I've read, nothing about this device is making me see the need to upgrade from the 6P. While I have gotten use to the larger size of the 6P which can still be slightly problematic at times, I wouldn't be objected to seeing how the 5.5 screen felt. I have really gotten used to the front facing speakers and so far the 6P hasn't let me down as far as speed or performance.

What ever happened to the rumors of Huawei 7P?? What that for an upgraded 6P or a tablet?

I see very little to complain about, honestly. But that's my opinion and how I use a phone. I've been using a 6s Plus since December and I don't feel like the one speaker on the bottom of the phone has ruined my experience. The OS, now that's a different story! :) I would love a smaller form factor phone with a good size screen for my tastes, and 5.5" would be perfect. My iPhone is 5.5" but the phone itself is HUGE. It's pretty much the same size as the 6P. I know some people love the speakers on the 6P (or the N6 and previous HTC One models) but I RARELY listen to anything on my phone where they are necessary. I use Bluetooth in the car, headphones when I'm mowing, or stream to my TV or use Android TV at home. I do watch the occasional YouTube video on my phone, but it's usually short and sweet so the speakers aren't a deal breaker as long as I can hear it. If I'm watching a movie or playing a game while traveling, I use headphones so I don't disturb those around me.

This phone actually makes me pretty excited to get back to Android.

My angst against front facing speakers? Did you actually read anything I wrote? I don't have any angst toward front facing speakers, were did you read that at? I would love front facing speakers.

I will step back on my soap box and repeat what I said, maybe you will understand this time. This device doesn't have front facing speakers. Get over it. There are devices that do have them. Anyone is welcome to buy a device that had that speaker system.

This is why ill keep my Moto X Pure for now. At least for now, even though i do love HTC phones i will keep my pure who knows maybe the Note 7 will sway me.

All these Nexus 6p users not really going to upgrade And here I am dragging along with my old Nexus 5 ready to give my money away for the Marlin lmfao :-P
