HTC One 4.2 Update Partially Available Now

Is that your answer to everything? The overwhelming majority of android users don't know or give a f@&# about rooting. Most people don't want to void their warranty or brick their phones either. All the people who stupidly blurt out "root or use a custom rom" are such a minority that their really a non f@#&in factor. Our phones should be updated more frequently from the OEM as to reduce fragmentation and fix bugs. I really do wish some rooters would get off their high horses and pull the thumb out their ***.

It's funny how the moans about old software are consistent year after year and phone after phone. When will people understand that it comes with the territory. And our phones are in no way less capable because of it. I love this phone and it does more than enough of what I need. An update for me would be icing on the cake.

Regarding Samsung releasing their devices with the latest software, have you guys tried TouchWiz? Seriously.. I had a Galaxy S3 for a long time and I tried the S4 more than once and I can safely say I'd use HTC Sense over it ANY DAY, even if it ran Ice Cream Sandwich. It is not only more stable and much quicker, but it's much more responsive and I have never ever experienced any kind of lag using it whereas I had to reboot my S3 several times a week just to get it to function properly. Have you tried using the S3 or S4 with Power Saver Mode ON? On the S3 it was useless and on the S4 it is NOTHING compared to power saver mode on the HTC which you wouldn't feel a different with it activated because Sense is the snappiest UI in the market at the moment, except for of course stock or Google Edition Android because they are not bloated with software (and being bloated is not necessary a bad thing because you get a lot of extras).

The One with 1.28 or 1.29 is still an amazing device to use and performs much better than most other devices in the market with newer softwares. The problem with 1.28 was the responsiveness of the touchscreen and the capacitive buttons if you have a thick screen protector on like the anti-finger/anti-glare one I have, but with 1.29 it was all fixed. 2.24 adds a lot of nice features but the device is as usable with 1.28 and 1.29 as any, so please let us stop complaining about this.

Can't wait till this comes over to the States.
I've only been on T-Mobile for 6 weeks or so.. how do they normally handle updates? They have to be better than my outgoing carrier, Verizon.

I've been using Apple products for years. Just about everything except iPhone. I've never had an iPhone. I have participated on Apple forums for a few years, and I got sick of the constant post from Android fans about how Android is for tech people and iPhone is for the common drone. Made me want to puke. Well when it came time to ditch my BB, I looked around and saw that BB with their half baked jump to BB10 wasn't going to meet my needs any longer, so I made the jump to Android. I even got the best phone on the market, HTC One. Was an Android user for about three whole days and decided the carrier crapware had to go. Easy to unlock the boot loader. Easy to ROM. Tried a couple. Found out that I like the Sense based ROMs. Came across Android Revolution. It's based on 4.2.2.

So what is it now ? Is Android not still for the tech people who like to tweak their phones or not ?

You can lay in the middle of the floor, kick and scream, or hold your breath all you want, meanwhile, myself and others like me will enjoy the benefits of crapware free Android 4.2.2. ;)

I think they're just getting all of their ducks in a row. HTC can't make any mistakes or companies like samsung and Apple will make a big deal about it. Google WANTS manufactures to release 4.2 so that they can officially release 4.3 in October. It's coming, soon. Make sure you have all of the pre-updates installed first.

Apple does not see HTC as a threat.

Question How much internal storage is left?
I mean the phone has 32 gigs but how much is left, with the OS installed !! Looking forward for a reply asap. thank you.

The update is 417 MB, plus add a couple of MB for the pre-updates (two of them). Soon you'll be able to add 2TB to your One so space isn't really an issue.

I have well over 150 apps, some videos and few MP3 files and still have 20gb left. According to the DiskUsage app the OS uses about 5+ gigs for storage leaving 26+ gigs to do what you please.
