HTC One 4.2 Update Partially Available Now

For those who don't have it yet, the HTC 4.2.2 update has many nice surprises, including the new daydream screensaver, lock screen widgets, new Highlights video templates, integrates Instagram into Blinkfeed, makes screenshots instantly shareable, camera updates, a battery level indicator update plus it moves the power saver option out of the notifications bar. They also remove that unsightly ugly black menu bar that sometimes shows up (finally).

The video below shows some of the goodies to come;

There's one more thing I noticed, and that is when you want to go back from the app drawer to the home screen you don't have to press the Menu button in the dock but you can just tap the back capacitive button and you're there. I actually don't think it was available in many custom ROMs, I only found it as a tweak in ViperOne, so that's pretty awesome!

Unfortunately I don't think I'll get this one for a while, being in Australia. I think that down here, one of our carriers still controls updates, even on unlocked phones such as mine.

If you have the dev edition then you should be able to get it directly from the HTC site.

Is that your answer to everything? The overwhelming majority of android users don't know or give a f@&# about rooting. Most people don't want to void their warranty or brick their phones either. All the people who stupidly blurt out "root or use a custom rom" are such a minority that their really a non f@#&in factor. Our phones should be updated more frequently from the OEM as to reduce fragmentation and fix bugs. I really do wish some rooters would get off their high horses and pull the thumb out their ***.

GLASS THEME BY SAMER ZAYER IS THE BEST ON EARTH. 1300+ ICONS OF THE MOST POPULAR APPS. TRY IT

And most people Don't GAF about updates at all. The One works great out of the box. This techie don't give a hoot if I get an update for it or not, though I won't scoff at it. I wish some people would get off their high horse about updates.

Downloading update: 2.24.401.1 (416.46 MB) now on my norwegian unlocked HTC One. One question tho, will it delete all of my apps when 4.2.2 is installed on my phone? I did a backup with via buildin app. What happened to yours (those of you who have installed new update)?

If you're rooted you probably cannot install the OTA update. You'll get an error message saying your software is modified.

I don't remember if the Sense 5 launcher pre-4.2.2 has that feature but in Nova Prime you can exit the app drawer and go Home with the back button. The same applies to the notifications shade, but it's a stock feature, not from the launcher I guess.

I'm waiting for US unlocked models to receive the update. I'm from Mexico but my One is from the US. My CID is BS_US001.

The uk still hasn't received this I'm definitely going to sue

No mate, it was not available on 1.28 and 1.29 ROMs, it was a Nova Launcher thing.

Not to get anybodies hopes up but today 4.3 was spotted on some HTC Ones over at google..... they may also be testing the new Bluetooth. I'll see if I can dig up more.
