HTC One Battery Life/Stats Discussion

Not sure how you can only use your phone for 3.5 hours. I use that much screen time before dinner. But great stats regardless.

Yeah man I don't know what to do on my phone, it is usually games or texting. Being in uni I don't have much time to use it, but I just finished my finals so I'll see the usage go up. How much screen time do you usually get on the N4?

I get 4 hrs pretty consistently. Have had as much as 5 a couple of times. If I play games it drains faster. Right now I'm at 3.5 and have 20% left, so I'd get past 4 hrs for sure. The battery is pretty good. Uses almost nothing when it's idle.

Hey all, Ive been enjoying my HTC One since launch day and i have very little to complain about. But ive just run into a possible real bad issue.

When I'm in my car, I have a nice little car mount and I have it plugged in to my cig lighter. I usual put the phone on Car Mode/Navigation/GPS just to have something on the screen. But I noticed that even though its plugged in and charging... The battery life is draining still. Today when i started my drive to work the battery was 95%. when i got to work... 91%.

What gives? I know it charges really slow but so slow you can run GPS without it still using up battery power? Anyone notice this issue? or maybe its just me?

You need to buy a car charger that has 1 Amp output. Check this post for reference...Car Chargers

The iPhone reports "usage time" as anytime the phone is doing anything, whether the screen is on or not. Including synching anything in the background (email, calendar etc). Android normally reports time off charge and screen on time. Screen on time and Apple's usage time are not the same. You can have hours of usage time on an iPhone and have never had the screen on. People coming from iPhone often talk about how they could get 10+ hours of usage time, but they only get 4 of 5 hours on their Android device. Seen it 100 times and it's in no way the same.

Ya I hear ya. Like I have previously said I am happy with my Ones battery life, I was just curious if there was an app that would do usage just because that is what I was used to when tracking my iPhone.

lindt chocolate,

your held awake number seems awfully low for that long off a charge. what are your settings?

Umm, what settings do you want to know specifically? I disabled facebook, twitter, and all AT&T apps because they were battery hogs and liked to keep my phone awake. My phone sleeps after 30 seconds I believe.

I would not described any of those apps as battery hogs.

Well, what about wifi, bluetooth, email syncs, etc. Facebook can certainly cause the phone to wake. But what other things have you disabled? I'm trying to find a happy medium where I'm not forced to disable what I want.

Nah I turned off wifi, bluetooth, and the emails don't sync. If I were you I wouldn't disable things I needed or dumb them down, you have a smartphone to use it like it was intended to be used. I just turn off things I don't use because they are pointless drains.

I get the best battery life out of the one compared to all my phones. I can last from 9am to 2am with heavey usage and still have 20-30% battery life left.

Yea I don't intend to turn off the things I use or need. Was just curious. I'm more than satisfied with the phone overall and battery life in particular. I'm certainly getting good usage, was only looking to see if there were minor tweaks to be made to fine tune.

Thanks for the info.

That's outstanding, did you root/custom rom or undervolt ? If not what other tweaks did you implement to get that performance? Lastly, when you said heavy use, how many hours screen on during that period?

Thanks for any reply

Phil

I want to get this phone...only thing holding me back...is 1-2 years down the line..if battery needs to be swapped...what options do we actually have besides ripping the thing apart?

I have not found any answers on google either...isnt anyone else concerned about this issue?

The battery will last 2-3 years, and 95% of everyone on contract will swap it out for a new phone after 24 months. So, no problem there.

I wouldn't worry about it, Li-Poly battery will probably outlast your phone.
Here is my best screen time, nothing special. Lost 2 percent restarting the phone because of that ******* horrible weather app htc keeps using even though it is complete garbage

It was about 2 hours of gaming and 2 hours of texting and blinkfeed/internet stuff. Even streamed a few vids too.

Day 1/3 of HTC one over the moon getting approx 23hours usage on 1 charge however 1 week on i struggle to get between 13/14 hours with phone completely dead..
Girlfriend still getting 18hours on s4 grrrrrrrr... Medium usage...
Both better than our traded iphone 5 which got 12 hours max...

Moderate usage
