HTC One Camera problem: static live view but still takes photos and video

Had problem, reboot no go, restart worked. Since it is May 2014 and I have new phone obviously not a SW problem they have fixed. Anyway as I said restart worked.

Thanks man it worked for me :) And these verizon Tech wanted me to do a factory reset and go set up my phone all over again when all it needed to be done is restart lol...Internet is THE BEST TECH!:D

Simple fix to this issue after calling HTC support.

Go to settings, apps, camera, clear catche. Don't worry when warning comes up as all your pictures will still be there.

Then go back to settings, power, un-check the fast boot.

Return to home screen and restart your phone.

It will work!

Good luck :)

Thanks in advance for your great support regarding this issue.

Although I have another HTC One series device (One V), same issue is ocurring. I tried your troubleshoot and it seemed to work it out at first. But now sometimes pics just got bad (like if cam was damaged which is not) and sometimes screencaps continue being showed with the 'warning' logo, i.e., static view unavailable. I don't know what to do and still have 1 week and half with it.

Regards

Just in case someone comes to this thread like I did and goes straight to last page... THIS SOLUTION WORKS!!!!

Thanks, I was wondering if I was going to have to send my HTC One back!

Add me to the list of folks who used the Restart trick to get my camera working properly again. Thanks to all... this forum is a great resource!

Ok, same problem here. I'm in Denmark so again not a provider issue. I'm using 4.4.2 software so I did like suggested and restarted rather than shutdown and restart. That worked. Thanks all for the info.

YES!! Verizon wanted to do a Master Reset and I said NO!.. Now if they were only smart enough to look this up like you guys!! THANK YOU THANK YOU!!

Had this same problem as well. The camera would freeze and lock into whatever it saw when first turned on and that was what was on my screen. I could not actively "view" through the viewer in other words, although the camera could still take photos. Did a reset and the camera is working again. Hope that doesn't happen again.

I know that this is an old thread, but I had the same problem since a day or two. Power off and on again didn't fix it. But a simple restart did! Thanks!

HTC One, 4.4.2.

I tried to do this fix, but when I hit the button to clear the cache, nothing happens. I restarted and it fixed the issue, but this is apparently only a temporary fix. Anyone have any suggestions? Also, since I restarted, all my photos have a yellow tinge to them... I give up....

Today I found the same problem, for the first time. My device is a free German one, purchased in Spain, where I use it. After trying restart without success got to read this thread and tried rebooting. It worked perfectly! Thanks!

So glad I found this thread and realised it wasn't just my phone that had the issue. Such a simple fix in the end. Now I can finally get back to moaning about the pink/purple tint on all my photos in low light conditions... ;)

WOW can't believe so many people around the world are having the same problem as i am >_< , i have the HTC One Max and the camera view kept freezing on me (could still take pic's just could not see what pic i was taking) so i did a system reset and had everything lost but it worked for about a month or two and started to do it again and i wasn't going to reboot it again wasn't keen on losing all my stuff again , so i Googled my problem and found this site and oh boy so glad i did... Thanks for the help and solving my problem every one should scroll up there has been a post shared on this thread how to fix the problem .... One happy Aussie guy here :)

I have been having this same issue for two weeks. Tried powering off and on multiple times. Just read this post and tried a restart (vs power off/on) and Wal-la, phone works normally again. Frustrating that I didn't find this post sooner. Incidentally, I am running with Android 4.4.2
