To further elaborate on flashing/installing:
When the word 'Clean' is used, that is wiping the cache, dalvik cache, and factory reset, among anything else the developer suggests.
A 'Dirty' install is skipping any or all of the wiping steps. Dirty installs are typically acceptable when the ROM gets a small update, i.e. 4.1.2 to 4.1.3. HOWEVER, like wizzrah stated, I would still suggest a clean install whenever you do update your ROM, due to it eliminates some potential hassles after flashing.

You should be able to go into settings, then about phone, then update software to get your phone on Lollipop, but before doing that, I'd root, unlock the bootloader, then you can flash any ROM made for this phone, that you would like. The tools you need to do this are (using the below tools will allow you to root/rom your phone without a computer): Kingroot (for temp-root), Sunshine (to perm-root, unlock your bootloader and get S-OFF) $25, TWRP Manager to put a custom recovery on your phone.
