Yeah, I think it takes pretty solid pics for a smartphone. Is it the best camera? No. But it's still a great one. People get way too caught up in the MP issue.

Couldn't agree more with you mate. The camera is good, but it's the overall phone experience that has kept me interested in it

Thanks for the links to some examples of photos taken with this phone. I was afraid that the camera on this phone sucked but after looking at these examples, I know I'll be more than pleased with the photos I take.

So i took this photo of my sister and god daughter at the beach over labor day. I have to say, I love the UFOCUS when editing photo. Everyone has commented on facebook, family and friends, saying how professional this looks. Funny when my sister says, no my brother took it with his HTC One.

Thanks for the links to some examples of photos taken with this phone. I was afraid that the camera on this phone sucked but after looking at these examples, I know I'll be more than pleased with the photos I take.

I would love to see what other phones are doing with all these spare megapixels! the M8 is by far the best camera I've had, previous to this I've had the S5, G2, Nexus 5 & 4 - not to mention the Galaxy and Note lines. The M8 is an all round brilliant camera imo. Taking pictures is so easy, so fast at auto focus. Sure if you want to blow your pictures up and have them printed as bed covers buy a z2 or a S5 but for viewing them on a phone / internet you can't go wrong with the m8

I think you will like it. It does not takes amazing photos or videos if your at concert, which is why I bring my Samsung Digi Cam and that's when the videos and photos look amazing. But for during the day, you can get a lot of nice photos out the m8

Yeah I agree, I don't think any smartphone camera excels at concerts tho, its usually too dark with a lot of lights coming off of the stage.

Funnily enough even though I've got a Sony Z2 which is supposed to have on of the best cameras in a phone, I'd still use a M8 camera and be more than happy with the results.
The Z2's camera is superb but nothing rivals the m8 for shutter speed and excellent pin perfect focus even in low light IMHO
Other cameras need good light or flash to focus (including the Z2) but the M8 is superb at most light levels.
M8 camera also has a wonderful colour saturation and for portraits is pretty much unbeatable.

The lack of pixels only really effect landscape shots where you need lot's of detail.
Exposure is the ultrapixels Achilles heel IMHO.
Where most smartphones can handle photos with strong contrast (even using HDR if they have to) the m8 really struggles with brightlight, almost like it lets too much in and the HDR mode is pretty meh.

Still a stonkingly good camera and I still miss it on occasions when using the Z2.

how does the camera compare to the m7? i like my one a lot but that was the biggest downfall of the m7 the camera... hopefully its better on the m8

It is the same camera, so if you didn't like it on the M7...

Took this one on Saturday- it doesn't stay like this for long. Almost all the green gone, soon ALL the color will be gone.
