After looking at the pictures, yes I should have mentioned that there was a TV which was on just to the right of where I was taking the pictures.

Then you're right the M8 was clearly the best in those shots!

After looking at the pictures, yes I should have mentioned that there was a TV which was on just to the right of where I was taking the pictures.

It also shows that HTC did make significant improvements to the M8s camera compared to the M7s.
