HTC One not charging and USB not recognizing ! :(

Re: HTC ONE not charging and Usb not recognizing ! :(

Has anyone tried if flashing any ROM would solve this problem?

My phone is less than 3 months old.... Until it is confirmed not to be a hardware issue I won't risk my warranty....
Sending mine back again tomorrow.... As well as the issues I have advised already I keep getting a random "not charging | charger not comparable" notification. With all the other issues linked to charging and indicting the phone thinks its docked or part docked suggests to me tha it's a hardware issue with USB port...

I think if was software the issue would be more widespread rather than isolates reports on here.... Also factory reflash wiped fix and it hasn't on mine.

Always had an iPhone since 3GS and everyone of those I jail broke as soon as released so custom roms t]really appeal just don't want p end up with a ?400 paper weight.....

Was considering giving up and getting a note 3. But looking at the images don't think I can get through the ugliness if it...... Sony z1 now caught my eye especially as some pre-orders are giving smart watch 2 for free

Re: HTC ONE not charging and Usb not recognizing ! :(

Mine has stopped charging while turned on and my computer no longer recognizes it. I bought it from best buy and they refuse to do anything about it since it's out of their 15 day warranty. I am having to try to get HTC to repair or replace it, but unfortunately I unlocked the bootloader so I don't think they will do anything for me. Apparently if I had bought it from ATT instead they would have likely just swapped it out to stay on good terms with their customers.

Re: HTC ONE not charging and Usb not recognizing ! :(

During a mail conversation with HTC technical support, one of the persons in the support actually answered my question "Does HTC know about the problem you can find described on several places by googleing 'htc one not charging'?"

I don't know if the person wanted to close my case or actually telled the truth but the answer was "We are aware of the problem and working on a solution".

Let's all hope that is true!

Re: HTC ONE not charging and Usb not recognizing ! :(

This is my email reply from HTC...I have already tried what is suggested as it appears elsewhere in this thread
This still didn't fix the charging issue..I have to turn it off and wait for 15 mins then I can use the charger but not the computer USB to charge it.
Thanks for nothing HTC, a Galaxy S4 is looking good to me now
:-(

Thank you for contacting HTC.

We understand that you are unable to charge your HTC One properly. We are more than willing to assist you.

It might be possible that the charging port or the cable has connectivity issue or the battery is not working properly. We are going to list down steps you may perform to isolate the issue and for possible fixes. If you can still navigate through the handset, please do the following:
1. Perform soft reset. This will refresh the connection and programs on the handset. No data will be lost.
a) Go to ?Settings? of the phone;
b) Scroll down and go to ?Power?;
c) Remove the checkmark on ?Fast boot?;
d) Press the power button and hit ?Power off?;
e) Power it on again after a minute or two.
2. Uninstall 3rd party software. Since it is not tested by HTC, there is a risk in impacting your phone?s performance.
3. Check for available software update. Make sure to connect to a stable internet connection like Wi-Fi. Please remember to back up phone?s data before installing the update.
a) On your phone, kindly go to ?Settings?;
b) Scroll down and go to ?About?;
c) Tap ?System software update? and enabled ?Scheduled check?;
d) Press ?Check now?;
e) It will prompt you if there is an available update or if the phone is up to date.
4. Battery run down test. This is to test the battery of your handset. On the dial pad of the phone, please dial *#*#3424#*#* and select ?Battery run down test?. The result should be >70%.
5. To further isolate the issue:
a. We advise that you use the wall charger supplied in the phone?s package. Charging the phone through the computer will take time as this uses low voltage and will cause the handset to heat.
b. Use a different charger aside from the one you have. We also suggest using your charger to other handset and check if it is working properly.

If the issue still persists, you can now proceed with a factory reset. Please make sure to back up the important phone memory data such as contacts, calendar entries, SMS and other files before proceeding since the phone memory will be wiped. For back up procedure that you may use, please see the attached file.
1. Power off the device.
2. Press and hold the Volume Down button and then briefly press and release the Power button.
3. Continue holding the Volume Down button until you see the 3 Android images on the screen and then release the Volume Down button.
4. Press the Volume Down button twice to select ?Factory Reset?. Then press the Power button once.
5. When asked to confirm, press Volume Up button.

If a factory reset was unable to resolve the phone?s issue, we recommend contacting the place or store where you purchased the phone to have it properly assess. The handset needs to be checked personally by a specialist to perform advance troubleshooting steps. Kindly get in touch with them to best discuss your concern regarding assessment and repair.

We would like to remind you that the technician will have full access on your handset. We suggest backing up all the files to prevent data loss. Please secure the original receipt for warranty verification. Please also remove all the accessories before sending the phone.

Please let us know if this information was able to help you with your concerns. If not, kindly advise us of the issues you have encountered. Should you need further assistance, feel free to share your preferred contact schedule as we would be more than happy to contact you directly over the phone for support or you may give us a call at 1800-987-039 and provide your customer ID: 232013. Our business hours are from 8:00 A.M. to 8:00 P.M. Sydney Time, from Mondays to Sundays.

Have a nice day!

Re: HTC ONE not charging and Usb not recognizing ! :(

I have the same problem since 1 month. I've just tried to unlock the bootloader, rooted my phone, erased all data with clockwork recovery (wiped data, wiped cache partition and wiped dalvik cache) and then flashed with Trickdroid 10.0.0. Everything went fine but it didn't solve the charging and usb problem.

As my device is recognised by my computer in boot mode (fastboot usb is mentionned and I can see it on my computer) and as it is charging when the device is turned off, I assumed the USB port worked fine but now that I have erased everything and done a clean new install, I am starting to have a serious doubt about that.

I have also tried the battery calibration method mentionned earlier in the thread. It didn't work either.

Re: HTC ONE not charging and Usb not recognizing ! :(

I am having the same issues. I just contacted HTC and will update this post when I get a response. From reading all the other posts regarding this issue, it almost seems like it is a hardware issue. Maybe the charging port needs to be physically replaced or something having to do with it. Someone else mentioned only having issues when it was hot/humid. Not sure if there's anything to it, but it was a very hot/humid day where I was today when I first started seeing the issue. In any case, I'll let you know what happens.

Re: HTC ONE not charging and Usb not recognizing ! :(

I was also on holiday in Spain when the problem 1st started... So may something in he hot / humid.

I'm also on 4.2... Wonder if anyone with 4.1 have the same issues (if they have again suggests not software)

Re: HTC ONE not charging and Usb not recognizing ! :(

Was due to send my HTC one back for a second repair yesterday as after the first one they had done a factory reset before testing the device, on testing they couldn't find the fault,the problem reoccurred within 48hrs of it's return.
I decided to uninstall some apps yesterday to protect some data, I uninstalled about five in total, plugged in the charger and it was now working. I then set about reinstalling them one at a time.
One of which was Netflix, it seemed to still charge after install but an hour later no go, I then uninstalled it again and again would not charge but after a time would again charge and has continued to do so. Wondered if any of you have this app as I think their negating of tv out is perhaps in conflict with the mini usb port. It's a suspicion at the moment but I will continue without it for a few days to see if problem comes back.

Re: HTC ONE not charging and Usb not recognizing ! :(

I ran with only stock apps and got the problem.

Re: HTC ONE not charging and Usb not recognizing ! :(

RESOLVED (for now).

After going back and forth with HTC for a couple days, the issue looks to be resolved, and here's what did it:

1. Re-Activated my OLD phone so that I would at least have a usable phone (not sure if this had anything to do with the fix)
2. Rebooted the One in "safe mode" by holding the power button, then tap-and-holding the power off option, then tap restart
3. Monitored the phone for a few hours and observed that the issue had not reappeared
4. Rebooted the normal way (with Fast Boot unchecked)
5. Re-activated the One (re-activation required a factory reset, which deleted all my apps, but it did NOT require me to delete contacts, pictures, or anything else; not sure if the reset-for-activation method is a policy for Sprint or if it will be common for everyone)
6. Re-installed key apps

If you have NOT DE-ACTIVATED your phone yet and are still having the issue, I would suggest trying safe mode before anything else. If that works, try uninstalling apps that you think may be causing the issue.

It's been 2 days, and I still haven't experienced any of the issues, so I'm fairly confident that it was either one of the apps that I had installed or some residual files from an old app that I had uninstalled. I still don't know (and don't know how to find out) which app may have been causing the issue.

If the issue reappears, I will update this post again. For now, it looks to be 3rd party software, not HTC, that caused the problem.

**I'd also like to note that HTC's customer service was EXCELLENT. They responded very quickly, sometimes in the same day, and had a good understanding of the issue and presented reasonable approaches to determine/fix the issue. My last phone was HTC and, after this experience, it looks like my next phone will also likely be HTC.

Re: HTC ONE not charging and Usb not recognizing ! :(

For thise of you that know my story around here, youll know ive been having all these same issues, and how i feel about tbem. All the oroblems have flaired up again recently, and i dont know how much mlre i can take. Sound stops, batter y dies. Im not paying $150 a month (should be 90, why its so high ill never know) to have my phone sit on an end table at home dead because it wont charge. I want to go to spribt and demand they give me a new phone, i reall want a moto x, but its a phone compony and they only care about themselfs. I might have to unlock my phone and sell it, only to buy an unlocked x, but i dropped and cracked my screen, not too bad, but id either need to pay 150 to fix it or reduce thhe price, so eitber qay i lose hundreds of dollars on a couple month old phone. Honestly. I dont recomend this phone to anyone. Android and sense are great, but htc appereny makes crappy phones, and this whole ezperience has steered me awu from any of there otber products. I sincerly beleive getting this phonewas thee worst deciscion i could have made. I should have kept my tracphone and save hundreda and hundreds of dollars. To those of yiu tbat have one that works as it should, awesome. I also hate you.

Re: HTC ONE not charging and Usb not recognizing ! :(

Taking off the fast boot option worked for me. Using jellybean 4.11

Re: HTC ONE not charging and Usb not recognizing ! :(

Mine currently in transit back from HTC. Service line advised they have changes speaker??? And fixed something on the circuit board??

Hopefully fixed once and for all.... They could be making this up as I kicked off last time as they said they took no action and included a letter with this one saying don't just restore and send back.

Will update tomorrow.

Re: HTC ONE not charging and Usb not recognizing ! :(

Hi,

It's been 20 days I'm using this phone.

one fine day my phone stopped charging. And I was using the company supplied charger. Then I tried charging via USB Cable. And it did charge then my screen began to flikr. Any apps get launched randomly.

after one day of no charging my phone started charging, but this time around all my apps get launched in landscape mode. Assuming that it would be due to 3rd party apps, I did factory reset still no help.

right now my phone charges at times and doesn't at times. All apps get launched randomly, and I'm stuck with land scape mode. Plz help.

Re: HTC ONE not charging and Usb not recognizing ! :(

So I had the same problem. After some reading in the forum I performed a factory reset and after that a normal reboot and then it started charging as normally. Haven't tried to connect it to a USB Port cause I'm kinda scared that it gets back to the problem.

Hope you manage to solve yours man, I f***ing hate HTC distribution in Mexico, they wanted me to send it to Colombia's Technical Center (that's a $140 usdlls send) of course, I had to pay for that. :confused:

Re: HTC ONE not charging and Usb not recognizing ! :(

Had any one having this prob ever even for once used charger other than default charger?

Re: HTC ONE not charging and Usb not recognizing ! :(

Good evening my friends, sorry my English if I miss something. I had the same problem with my HTC one, it didn't charge and keep on making my car mode on, and some programs more as well, so I research here in this site, and I try some rebooting process. And it came not what I expected, but wen I read that humidity might generate this problem, I remember the day it starts it was wen I momentaly put my cell phone in my softly wet shorts. So I look at the charging connection at my cellphone, and I saw some green corrosion on it. As I'm in Angola by those days, I tried what I had in the house. I put a little of vinagre at a small piece of paper, and passed on those contacts until it look a litlle bettar (not that much amount), and for my surprise it got working. Since yesterday I had no problem at all, not charging nor those app opening themselves. Any way I hope you do it carefully, cose this battery cannot be removed, so if you do it try with no battery at all. And I also change the cable cose it looks it was looking green inside, and it's smaller to clean it properly. Anyway i hope HTC study a bettar metal to upgrade it, we know conductivity speed is important but has those things... I hope I had help somehow with it. Mb some problems could be related to contacts broken in the board, and it may give the same errors. Hope to make somebody happy as I am today. Good luck

Re: HTC ONE not charging and Usb not recognizing ! :(

The issues have resurfaced, and this time, Safe Mode and factory reset had no effect. Time to go back to HTC to see what they say. As I said before, HTC's customer service was excellent; hopefully they continue that trend and fix my One for good. I'm back in the camp of thinking this is a hardware issue.

Re: HTC ONE not charging and Usb not recognizing ! :(
