HTC One: This is THE BUG Thread.

Re: This is THE BUG Thread.

New bug.

As of yesterday's (May 15th) Google App updates, location services has stopped working properly on my HTC One (Bell). Google Now reports that location services are disabled, and doesn't display cards. Google Maps also reports that location services are disabled, but does end up displaying my position on a map.

In Settings->Location, all location settings are enabled (Location Services, GPS, Google Search & Location, and Compass Warning). WiFi is also enabled.

Others have been reporting this in the main HTC One forum here as well.

This will happen if you have google settings location turned off. This is a different settings location - the one that is the green G

Thanks for the help attempt, but unfortunately, the "Google Settings" location is *also* enabled. Forgot to mention that in my last post. Just for good measure I disabled then re-enabled it, but no effect. Google Now still thinks location services are disabled.

I do a lot of Android dev work for my day job so trust me when I say that I know my way around the OS & *all* location settings are enabled. Both the system-level stuff in Settings, and the Google app-specific settings in the Google Settings app.

It's very weird/annoying.

Re: This is THE BUG Thread.

I've been getting a 'No SIM card' notification periodically since yesterday. Not sure what the cause is as I haven't touched the tray or card.

Re: This is THE BUG Thread.

My signal when I'm inside has been less than stellar. I did not have a reception problem with my previous phone. I do not get always get a poor reception with the one it just fluctuates constantly, which is draining the battery. I'm on sprints network.

3 UK has been a mess all the time I've been using it. My data conection kept falling and then getting back up all time. When I was home I had to stay near a window. This all happened with a Galaxy SII. I 've had no problem with vodafone, giffgaff or roaming.

It might be that it's 3's fault and nothing to do with the HTC One.

Re: This is THE BUG Thread.

My htc one stopped group messaging properly. It kept sending and receiving texts individually I had to factory reset the phone to get it to work properly again. All is well again though.

There is an option for group text messaging in the phone. I turned mine on and worked fine after that.

That was the day of all Googles rollouts and changes for I/O announcements. Am wondering if that has something to do with it? Maybe a backend change on Google's part?

Re: This is THE BUG Thread.

Known issue, the location services bug. Factory reset fixes it.

Yes I am aware the setting was on.. The setting is also at the top of every group text. Once turned on from there the Group Message setting is turned on by default with in the sub menu. The phone needed a factory reset. Trust me I know when and when not to factory reset. I was on the phone multiple times with HTC about the issue. They also felt the only way to resolve it was to factory reset. I also put the phone into safe mode before factory resetting because I wanted to make sure an app wasn't doing this to the phone, but the problem persisted. It's been about two weeks now and the phone has not had any issues since.

NEED HELP W/ SNAPCHAT.

I can't seem to take a screenshot while using Snapchat. To keep the picture on the screen, one needs to continuously touch the screen, but this seems to be cancelling out the screenshot function, because when I hold down the power button and tap home (or use audio down) while touching the screen, it just brings up the "Turn Phone Off" menu. Has anyone found a way around this?

Re: This is THE BUG Thread.

Home and Back buttons are also an issue for me. Usually the back button will stop working randomly while browsing or sifting through app menus. I will have to usually double-tap home to bring up the task manager and then re-enter the app again. This usually "resets" my stalled back-button and it proceeds to work again. Very annoying though, if you ask me. Completely takes you out of your phone and user experience, imo. I also thought this was my screen protector playing tricks on me but seeing how as this seems to be a common problem, I'm guessing it's a bug.

Re: This is THE BUG Thread.

I am having problems keeping the weather on my home page (blinkfeed page for now) updated. The phone shows my proper location, but displays the message "No weather data available." If I press the message I first get a blank screen saying that it is unable to pull down the weather info and brings me to the accuWeather.com screen. After I access this page the information - temperature, weather picture are displayed on my home screen. After a while, the original message of no weather data available is displayed again. I have not been able to determine what causes the phone to lose its data or updates.

All of my gps or locate my phone settings are checked, I have selected the phone to update when opened. I have spoken with Sprint technical, support, brought the phone into a Sprint store and to the Best Buy store where I bought the phone. Nobody seems to know how to keep the weather constantly updating without losing data.

Is anybody else having this problem or know how to fix it?

I am listing it under bugs because neither Sprint not Best Buy knew of a solution.

Thank you.

We had a similar problem with my wifes EVO LTE and it turned out to b a Sync issue. We don't like our phones to auto sync and when that is disabled the weather wouldn't update. Once we understood, it was something that could be lived with.

Re: This is THE BUG Thread.

System Enhancement update came out for Bell, Roger & Telus today.

Firmware version 1.29.666.17 (from 1.29.666.17.5). Fixed the capacitive buttons sensitivity issues, plus the One is now more responsive.

Re: This is THE BUG Thread.

New to Android and the forum so.....Hi all :)

love the HTC One and Android, superb build and design.

Unfortunately though Im on my 2nd HTC in 11 days (3 days left of cool off period) its running on the UK 3 network which although my home signal isnt great when out & about the speeds are fantastic.

Whats not great though is the what i believe is a proximity sensor hardware/software glitch (hopefully the latter which can be fixed with an update)

When on calls the phone will either do one of the following: switch randomly to speaker phone, sometimes it just cuts off or the best was yesterday where it decided to play that short Beats Audio movie clip down the phone to a work colleague and it overlayed the conversation :)

Since taking the first one back ive been careful how its held and distance from my head but other than keeping the thing pressed against my ear im not entirely sure what else i can do. Ive checked the proximity sensors using Android sensor box and they appear to work normally and kick in at about 20-25mm (call it an inch). Both were purchased from CPW so perhaps its a batch problem?

Yes ive had the same slow response button issues but just done a recalibrate as per this thread and that seems to have made things better.

This call issue is killing me though, Only thing i can think of doing is asking CPW to check the batches on both phones ive had and then ask them to source me one from an alternative batch.

Failing that its wait and hope for an update to fix it but from what ive found online theres not as many people reporting this particular problem so would it even be covered by an update?

I dont suppose anybody knows much about the proximity sensors or whether theres a fix? Could it be the phone is kicking in to sleep mode or similar and canceling the prox sensor as it doesnt happen immediately, more like a minute or two in to conversation.

no screen protector fitted, a flush to the side case and definately well within 20mm or my ear.

Re: This is THE BUG Thread.

After going into the Accessibility section and turning permissions on for any app (e.g. Tasker), the screen will flicker (flash black for a split second) after unlocking the phone. Small issue but very annoying.

Re: This is THE BUG Thread.

Anyone having problems with sharing photos from gallery via facebook messenger? When I try to send a picture from the gallery using the "share" button I just get message "Your message could not be sent" but sending pictures from within the fb messenger app using the "+" button works just fine

Re: This is THE BUG Thread.

I just picked up my ONE on Saturday nite. Loving the device just having a small minor problem nt sure if its a bug or nt..
Normally on LOCKSCREEN, if i want to unlock, i wud just swipe upwards to unlock. Was all fine till today morning.
However now, even if i swipe up, the device doesnt get unlocked.. and it keeps giving the error "Pull the icon to unlock".
So to unlock the screen now i swipe my icons towards right to unlock. After unlock if i lock the screen and try to unlock again by swiping upwards it works fine. Hence its an intermittent issue. Not sure if you guys are able to understand the issue m trying to explain.

Anyone here faced any such issue???
