HTC One: This is THE BUG Thread.

Re: This is THE BUG Thread.

It's a known problem. The camera sensor is damaged because of heat. You must take it to service in order to change the camera module and the shielding which protect it.

Re: This is THE BUG Thread.

this referring to what bug?

Damn! I was so excited that I forgot to reply with quote. This was for post #508 by VidJunky.

I was just trying to help someone with this. You need to turn on animations in the developer's menu. For some reason in 4.3 if you disable animations the menu no longer works. I had them try changing the behavior of the home button, so when pressed and held the menu should open, and this didn't work. So far nothing brings back the menu operation with animations disabled in 4.3.

You, sir, are a legend! I have been having this issue for a while and I had animations disabled. Enabling animations fixed the issue! :)

Re: This is THE BUG Thread.

i updated to 4.3 and 5.5 a couple of months ago and am having several small but annoying issues ever since:
  • same problem with the screen blackout following a phonecall as mentioned by others above.
  • notification bar stays black for a few seconds after unlocking, before turning transparent.
  • occasionally half of the clock is missing (literally the bottom or top half of the actual numbers) after unlocking.
  • during phone calls, power saver is turned off and the camera app is opened with zoe selected.
  • phone is randomly restarting itself, particularly when battery is lower than 30%.

all together, these are becoming pretty frustrating. especially the power saver/camera bug during calls.
has anyone encountered anything similar and are there any quick fixes.

at this stage i'm considering rooting the thing and flashing a new rom.

Re: This is THE BUG Thread.

The only problem that I am seeing now is the screen staying blacked out after a phone call. It does this to me about 50% of the time.

Usually this is due to the sensor being dirty. It really doesn't take much for it to be dirty enough to malfunction. A little makeup, sweat, or some hair care products. If you haven't already you can change the behavior of the power button, under buttons and gestures, and use it to wake the phone instead of ending calls.

Thanks. I have already cleaned it. It started right after I upgraded to 4.3 and still does it after I cleaned the sensor. Only does it about half the time though.

Factory reset time...

Re: This is THE BUG Thread.

I have had two HTC Ones in the past year, the first was Verizon, which worked flawlessly, the second one, which I am using now, from T-Mobile, is unbelievably buggy. Here are some of the things that happen:

1. Phone restarts whenever it wants. This problem started two days ago (I've had the phone for a week), and it only seems to happen when I am at home and connected to my home WiFi. After the phone restarts, it gives me an option to send the error report to HTC, but does not give me the option to save the error report.

2. Phone screen does not turn off. Problem started around the same time as number one. I have Wakelock Detector, and it does not pick up what keeps the screen on. The lock button does not turn off the screen.

Apps I am running include: Tasker, TeslaLED, Google products, Facebook, Instagram, Timely, Retune, Nova Settings, Yelp, OpenTable, along with stock apps. Running 4.3. I wiped the handset and reconfigured everything, this did not help.

This problem only seems to occur when I am at home, connected to home WiFi with WiFi calling enabled. This issue does not occur when I am in the office or traveling.

Any insights on how I may be able to fix this issue?

Re: This is THE BUG Thread.

I have two battery bugs

1. The battery drops to around 92% quickly after it says its fully charged

2. When my phone reaches 10% it instantly drops to 3 or 4% and then instantly to 1% and then dead. All within 30 seconds.

Both of these happen to me as well. And just recently mine has been acting up. Getting errors saying "unfortunately such and such an app has stopped." And it has been crashing a good bit. Not sure what's up.

Re: This is THE BUG Thread.

My sprint HTC one did the same thing all the time I literally could not let it reach 10% or it would be dead within two minutes even if the screen was off. I don't think it's a bug probably just how HTC engineered the phone. And as far as the 92% thing it could be due to the phone charging to full then discharging and recharging while plugged in but the phone will display 100%. Don't know if it's a bug or not though

Actually I took it off the charger right after it got full and then it dropped

I'm trying to understand this bug, as you can see my charge chart is pretty normal until 90% where it shoots up. This must mean that the software is just saying the phone is charged when in reality its not, so taking it off the charger right after it reaches 100 would cause it to quickly drop back to the low 90s.. If the chart were right it would be a nice slow trickle charge to 100. So in other words the phone is lying for whatever reason.

Re: This is THE BUG Thread.

Hi all,

My HTC one keeps shutting down every night and in the morning when I wake up it has shut down and I need to press the power on and volume up button to turn it back on. This happens almost every other night. There is no issue with the charge since my charge is around 50% when I go to bed.

Anyone else facing this issue? Any ideas on how I can fix it.
