You say it's just a phone, but you're the one beside yourself because of the 4 megapixels.
Guilty! I can't believe it!

Always amusing how these threads degenerate into people taking turns posting wildly inaccurate information to score a win

Don't try to move the goalposts. You tried to claim HTC dropped the ball by putting design ahead of utility when, in fact, the design was designed as it was specifically for the utility of its shape.Sorry, I'd rather have a removable battery. Never needed a curved case before, and I don't need one now.

Well son of a ....... My wife's going to be really pissed when she finds out that the $600 I shelled out for the 14MP Nikon we bought was a waste. All I needed to do was buy the GS4 with that "utterly badass 13mp camera". Who knew!Well that's all well and good, and I'm sure HTC has its explanations as it flails about in damage control mode, but a 4mp isn't going to shoot the same resolution as 13mp. HTC is in BlackBerry Curve territory.
HTC says it helps with low light shots. My Note 2 has a low light setting that works extremely well. I've got to believe that the SIV will have the same technology with its utterly badass 13mp camera.

Well, I have a 1080p monitor. And a 1080p TV. And I happen to know (I looked it up) that a 4MP picture is 2289 x 1712 resolution. Which is bigger than 1080p. So I'm really not sure why anybody would want/need to zoom way in on a picture in order to show it to somebody on a monitor or TV.
Now, maybe you were standing really far away and you want to zoom in and crop. That's cool, but nobody's really mentioned that. But let's be honest you're not going to be doing that with your "everyday snapshots". Or you shouldn't. Get a "real" camera for the paparazzi shots.
I do know that 90% of my pictures are taken indoors, usually of my kids. And we don't always have ideal lighting (my Wife thinks it makes the electric bill lower). For me, the camera in the One makes perfect sense.
For other people, maybe not. But don't go saying it "sucks". It's just simply not for what you want it for.
Now I've heard it all!
What functions does the "utility of its shape" perform?

I'm not trying to sass you, but why not get a badass S4 with 13mp camera with low light setting? That way the pictures won't look like rat turd.
All the HTC damage control sure seems like a lot of work!
Lolz!

The S4 pictures will look like a turd in lowlight regardless of settings. Go learn about how camera sensors work and why a high MP, but small sensor, will not result in better pics.

Incorrect, the S4 performed better in low light according to this test:

Money quote "But the camera's performance is simply nothing to write home about, and there are cases when OIS just isn't helping at all (when shooting moving subjects"
