HTC One X ATT Version bugs thread

anyone having this issue with predictive text? In any app, the predictive text corrects words that are spelled correctly to really wacky options. For instance, the word "see" gets corrected to "ese". All sorts of common English words get corrected to things that aren't event words. it happens intermittently across apps. Is there a setting I've missed? My keyboard is set to english. Thanks

I think I may have gotten a bad phone. My battery life stink. 4 hours of moderate use and I need to charge it. Has anyone else heard of "bad" batches of phones? It was a white one (not that color has anything to do with it). Per Best Buy, they have had several customers bring back their HTC one X due to battery issues.

It sounds like your language settings aren't locked down to only English. Some keyboards allow the selection of more than on language.

Get swiftkey.

Like others I've been experiencing some connection issues. When I am in an area with poor reception (bottom floor of one of my school buildings), upon leaving this area it will say it has connection but I will not receive any texts or calls, and I cannot place calls or send texts. Only way to fix it is through cycling airplane mode or rebooting the phone, and the only way to find out about it is by trying to call someone or text someone. I'm on my second device, swapped for the same exact issue, in the same exact circumstances. Hoping its something that can be fixed with software and it isn't a hardware problem... Wondering if I should still go for a third though...

Also, the second device seems to be a little sluggish on the home screen compared to the first one, though its Quadrant scores are exactly the same..

LED Notification light stops working

I've noticed that after I receive a text/e-mail, call, etc. that the LED notification light will blink for about 2-3 minutes and then stop. What's the deal? Anyone else experiencing this?

So far I've noticed the camera has trouble focusing on close up objects even in "Close-Up" mode. Usually takes 15+ touch-focuses to actually bring something like a flower properly into focus.

Also my wi-fi connection seems to have trouble maintaining a signal. It drops and re-connects often. And I notice a much weaker wi-fi signal strength on my One X than on my Thunderbolt sitting side by side.

Oh and 2 more things I forgot:

Twice when I've plugged the phone in to charge, I've noticed the battery symbol doesn't indicate its charging. (No lightning bolt and moving green juice). But when I unplug the phone and plug it back in it kicks in and shows its charging.

I was also noticing a strange graphical bug for the first few days I had the phone where when unlocking the phone the Live Lava Lamp background would be blacked out for the bottom couple inches. And would snap back into place after about 10 seconds. But I cant seem to re-create the issue now.

The only issues I'm noticing with mine are 1. the Haptic Feedback is going in and out. It's very light when working but depending on the lighting condition of the room I'm in, It will fade in and out and is mostly off. Kind of annoying. 2. The notification vibrate is also sound like there is something loose in the phone. I just shook it recently and can here a rattle so I peg this as a defective unit. It's sad because I got it at best buy and all best buys in my area are out of stock now so I don't know if I'll be able to get it exchanged prior to my 30 day return policy.

I posted a thread about this - my notification light seems to work only when it wants to. Coming from my blackberry, this is a big problem for me.

I also have lots of data connection issues. I can have 4 bars of service, yet nothing happens on the phone. Texts don't send, no emails, no apps working, and just the little sync icon in the status bar. I went to the ATT store and got a new SIM, but that didn't work. I don't know if it is the phone that has an antenna problem (as we know WiFi is all messed up, too), or if it's just a software bug.

I think the phone runs better on 4G as opposed to 4G LTE. That's when I seem to notice less data issues.

Also, whenever I run a speed test, it rarely ever finishes. Sometimes it will get through the download phase, but always goes to a "network communication error" halfway through the upload phase. Often times it gives me that error for downloads as well.

Anyone else?

I'm getting a very peculiar error with mine. I've gone through 2 HOXs so far and the problem persists between devices which leads me to believe it's a bug with the phone or a carrier issue.

I live in Washington DC which is fully LTE enabled just about everywhere I go. When it's on and working, it is quite fast (7-20Mbps), however the phone will all of a sudden just stop transmitting and receiving data for several minutes at a time, while there is no apparent change in signal. I've even gone into the diagnostics tool (*#*#4636#*#*) and the signal strength is no different than when data is working fine. This happens consistently in multiple locations (my house, work, friends, city streets, parks), and in every combination of 4G, 4G LTE, wireless on, wireless off.

I've spent about 4 hours on the phone with AT&T and they have tried a number of different things with no result, and assure me that there are no network outages in my area. Is anyone else having this particular issue? I know there is an acknowledged LTE+wifi bug, but I believe this to be unrelated as it happens just as frequently when the wifi is off and when i'm not on LTE. I want to find out if i'm going to have to return this phone and go back to the tiny iphone screen or what.

The phone also gets very, very hot underneath the camera when the LTE radio is experiencing the data issue. Hotter than any phone has any business being.

Thanks very much,
-Russ

Edit: it looks like adg44 is having problems very similar to mine. Adg -- does this accurately describe what you're experiencing?

I've been having this issue the last couple of days too. The only thing that fixes it is to do a power cycle which is very annoying. I am willing to wait on an update because this beats anything else on AT & T right now

I've had this issue too of data dropping out (EDIT: cell data; no wifi at work) for a minute or so but I seem to notice it only at work. Signal is usually mid-level. Kinda annoying when you stream Spotify a lot at work.

@jcochran77....Yes I did return my HOX once for another HOX and then for a Nokia Lumia 900. Guess what that device also had data issues dropping...something must go wonky with the ATT network on mid to low level service areas. I returned the Lumia 900 for the HTC Vivid now...so far only one restart. I am playing with some other things that I think may be causing the data and voice and text drop. So far with wifi turned off when I am not in a wifi area....it hasn't stopped working. Kinda sucks that I need to physically turn off wifi when I am out an area...but if it works I'm so tired of swapping phones out. The vivid is a great phone...the HOX was awesome and if that was what was wrong with it as well I will be extremely upset...

My Bugs So Far:

1:
Camcorder will just randomly freeze and stop recording- have to arrow out of app to get it going again

2:
Drops wi-fi and it says network issues- need to disconnect from network then reconnect to get it going again, sometimes it takes 2 or 3 tries but never more than that

3:
My multi-picture-live-wallpaper will suddenly be "all one wallpaper" To fix it i have to open the MPLW ap, go deep into settings, arrow back out of all screens since the "apply" button is greyed out when i first call it up) then it starts working again... Only does that approx once a day)

4:
Speakerphone has to be pressed, then unpressed 2-3 times to get it to work

5:occaisionally will get "loading...loading..... on homescreen that will last 10-15 seconds.... that occurs maybe 1-2 times a day

6. Not really a bug but a niggle... I cannot for the life of me to get the 23GB to show up on my Dropbox acct despite signing in at dropbox.gs FROM my phone and despite contacting Dropbox support, it remains at 2GB for the passed 6 days

In six days of ownership have not rebooted once....

Overall phone is a joy to use, if the above bugs never went away and didn't worsen, i'm a happy camper.....

I still am waiting to test the EVO just because i am anxious to see if the "flat design, micro SD, having NFC working with Google Wallet pre-installed, ded Cam button, kickstand & being 75 bucks cheaper a month (will be added on friends plan) is enough to make me part with this beautiful, "WHITE work of art" : )

Yup, and I'm in Northern VA.

I also have a bug where I can get a text message and never recieve a notification or even a "1" next to the message icon. I had a text message from yesterday evening that I didn't know about until I opened the messages app this morning.

I think that happens when it has its network issues. Last night it kept going in and out (and I was in the same place). It will go from 4 bars of LTE to 0 bars and no service, then to 4G with some bars, then back to LTE. And even while it has service bars showing, internet doesn't work and mail doesn't sync.

Considering Russ is having similar issues and has swapped phones, either we both have bad phones and he was given another bad phone, or it's a software issue, or a DC LTE issue.

I'm also experiencing the data connection issue. I've emailed HTC support with no luck. I've exchanged sim cards and just 2 days ago I got a new HOX and none of this seems to fix the problem.

HTC is aware, as we know, of the wifi issue but they won't confirm the cellular data issue. Give them a call or drop them an email and let them know about the issue.

I am willing to bet somehow the two problems are connected. For those who have not followed my previous posts...I had two seperate HTC One X's and both had the call and data drop...many times through the day. I then exchanged for a Nokia Lumia 900...this phone didnt lose calls but lost data and texts. Besides those problems I'm not a huge fan of the windows phone interface...so in short i returned that phone as well. Now I have the HTC vivid...thinking a phone released for a little while longer and has had the ICS update since March/April time frame would be smooth sailing. Wrong again....same problems as the HOX. Now yesterday I had to restart at home before I left work...I turned my wifi off before rebooting the phone...restarted and went the whole day and thru the night and now up until 1pm here today...not having to reboot to gain anything back. My experiment so far has lead me to believe that somehow wifi is causing the data and calling loss on my devices. If it was just one device I could see this not being the case. Two seperate HOX's and a vivid makes me think there is something wrong here. Sucks to leave off wifi but I have tablets for that use at home and no wifi at work. Ill keep testing and see how things go but so far so good...the vivid is a decent phone too...but damn really loved that white HOX!!!

I had to return my One X too due to lack of data up to 5 times in 5 hours. I was at the end of my rope. I exchanged it for the Galaxy S II SkyRocket! Kind of wish I would have done the Vivid since it has ICS at least! But I am stuck now ..

I don't think it is the WiFi that is causing the cellular date drop issues. I never use my WiFi and I am having all the same issues.
