HTC screwed themselves by not releasing this on Verizon

It never occurred to you he wants to buy an HTC One on Verizon? Pretty obvious.
I'm sure HTC did everything possible to get Verizon to sell the One but Verizon has their own reasons for things.

Actually its the mobile carriers responsibility to buy the phone and they decide whether or not to sell it on their network. Why would Verizon release a new HTC phone when you guys just got the DNA anyway?

Also I couldn't help but notice you were on an iPhone. Troll much?

Not all LTE phones on Verizon do simultaneous voice and data. The iPhone 5 doesn't because of the way they arranged their antenna's. Not sure if all Android models allow it. Verizon is fast becoming the company their customers love to hate. Not that anyone really likes their cell phone company but Verizon has by far the best coverage and they take advantage of it to the maximum extent possible.

Also, VZW does allow for simultaneous voice and data, if you're using LTE or Wifi. That being said, I'm one of VZW's biggest critics. I hate how they bully the smartphone manufacturers and stock their shelves with mainly low-end devices. The HTC One omission is just the latest example of blatant arrogance.

Both of your statements are incorrect. AT&T certainly does not have the best coverage and Verizon does allow simultaneous voice and data on LTE unless the phone manufacturer screwed it up as Apple did.

err.... second largest... and second worst.
- at&t is larger (in terms of subscribers AND coverage - and i'm saying that while NOT being an at&t customer)
- verizon STILL don't even have simultaneous data+voice. that relegates them to the pre-3G era no matter what their marketing folks say. sprint is worse (a lot worse) but both verizon and sprint are pretty horrible compared to any network (anywhere in the world) that ACTUALLY sells what they advertise (e.g. ACTUALLY having a 3G service)

For a company fighting for it's life they should've done everything they can to get this phone on Big Red. Millions of potential sales are down the drain. I know there's rumors of a rebadged one in a few months from now, but it will be too late by then. S4 will eat a majority of those sales by the time it arrives (if it even does).

You're right.

When you're in the business of selling phones you make sure to get your phone on the largest network, it's simple logic.

Make yourself available to as many buyers as possible

Perhaps I'm crazy but if rumors are true about the Butterfly 2 aka DNA+/Deluxe/2 and it shares similar internals (to make devving easier) as the One but sports a slightly different design, I am all for it. Even though there are a lot of other VZW customers, I'd like to have a slightly different device than the stock One. You can call me a rebel.

That's why the rezound and DNA were just flying off the shelves right?!?!?

Making a phone for Verizon to get maybe 10 million sales at most is not as good as making a phone that the most every carrier in the world can use. The world is bigger than Verizon.

Bottom line is: you want the ONE and Verizon won't sell it. Tell Verizon with your wallet and leave. Not gonna change their attitude overnight but if enough people did this they would change.

...if I remember correctly, DNAs were sold out for a while online. And when I went in store to buy one, they were also out of stock...for like, 5 days. They can be used on other networks since they are globally unlocked, making it a popular phone for more than just verizon...but regardless, I highly doubt people leaving Verizon will change their mind on anything. They'll just take your etf and go in their merry little way.

Se boat here. Im leaving Verizon (and a crappy Droid Charge) for ATT and the One. Strike one they refuse to carry the phone I want. Strike two I've been with them for ten years and they are taking away the plan I'm grandfathered into? Strike three the closest comparable plan is 100$ for someone who rarely uses minutes and is a moderate texter?

Buh-bye

Exactly my issue with them. I don't think I go over 100 minutes in a month and zero SMS/MMS. I'd love a data only plan for reasonable price.

I'm currently on verizon with unlimited data using the HTC Thunderbolt and able to upgrade. I really want this new HTC ONE phone, but it's not avil on verizon. My questions are- . Do i switch to At&t for the HTC ONE or stay with verizon and pick up the DNA phone? My thoughts are since I'm gonna lose my unlimited, why not switch carriers for the phone?
I signed up with AT&T for the One. Trying to decide if I want to kill the Verizon Wireless service or not, still. Only thing that keeps the account alive (and unused) is the rate plan being gone. I tried the DNA and it was horrible IMO.

I don't think it was ever sold out in my market... strange.

And I didn't even buy mine around release. I bought it in February.

I plus one the concept of a data only plan, oddly enough, I never text or call anyone I just use my phone to play games on or peruse ac/xda.

While I don't make a lot of calls I'm the opposite position from you. I'm on WiFi 99% of the time when I want to use the phone for things other than calling. I freaking HATE being required to pay for a 2 GB data plan when I tend to use .005 GB in a month. No, that isn't a typo - I don't have too many zeroes in the number. I use almost zero data each month but Verizon forces me to pay for the damn data plan anyway. I want a plan with very limited data for less money.

Let's hope they get the device out on Verizon soon heck I just showed a friend today the One she said she really liked the device but the only thing is she on Verizon. So yes HTC needs to get it out there for Verizon. :)

LOL at all the Verizon hate. Most people I know that have VZW, myself included, are fine with the service. No love, but no hate. I've also never had issues with CS either. I save money on the shared plan compared to the 5 separate unlimited I had before and I also get a huge corporate discount. So while this doesn't work out for some, it works out better for a lot of people. My phones still get signals where my gf's att phone goes dead, forget about tmobile or sprint. VZW is still the largest in terms of subscribers and coverage, don't know where info to the contrary came from. And second to last in CS? VZW consistently comes in tops or second in terms of customer satisfaction. Again, sources please. I also have simultaneous voice and data on my MAXXHD, as I did on my previous Thunderbolt.

While I did want the One to be released on VZW, the DNA filled that spot back in November. And now there are rumors of the DNA+ being released on VZW with specs matching or bettering the One possibly being disclosed this month. While it would have been nice for HTC to have a singular phone on all carriers like the S4, I can't say its a bad move... they offer the DNA+ to VZW, VZW does all the marketing and advertising. A DNA+ with One internals, the bigger screen from the DNA, 32GB and 64GB options (as opposed to just 16GB on the original DNA) and it should do well for HTC.
