HTC TB getting Honeycomb

Just got off the phone with VZW tech support on the issue that I did not yet receive firmware update and while talking to them, she said HTC TB is getting honeycomb and not gingerbread.
I specifically asked, HC is supposed to be for tablets only. Then she replied saying, Google is optimizing it for smart phones as well and TB is in the roadmap to get it in next couple of months.
Does anyone else have information on this...

did she have you dial *228 after you hung up? :)

i have never heard this--and strongly doubt she was correct. i think she's just a little misinformed.
but who knows...

maybe she meant Ice Cream---after we get Gingerbread (whenever that happens).
even if she mis-spoke, at least she acknowledged some sort of update for us in the upcoming months (GB?)

I thought it had already been acknowledged by HTC that the TB was getting Gingerbread in Q2. It would make little sense to dumb down Honeycomb for phones, especially when it doesn't work that great for the Xoom.

Now I suppose we'll have to have 14 more threads whining about why somebody hasn't gotten HC yet :(

I don't trust the majority of reps out there. Some are very knowledgeable. But not most I'd say.

I thought I heard that Android 2.4 is supposed to be a "fusion" of 2.3 and 3.0, optimized for smartphones. So, I'd say it's more likely this is what the rep was referring to (although, they were actually probably referring to 2.3, which I'm pretty sure is confirmed to come to the Thunderbolt at some point).

But this brings up the question I just asked a few topics down -- what are the odds the Thunderbolt will get 2.4? I'd imagine 2.4 is still a bit of a ways off, in general, and once it finally does come out, the Thunderbolt will be an "old phone"; would HTC still release 2.4 for it, or would they have stopped supporting it by then?

0% outside of XDA.

Edit: the Thunderbolt will be an old phone by July, which is why so many of us bought on one-year contracts. The Samsung Galaxy S2 is already doubling the Thunderbolt's benchmarks, untweaked. Not that benchmarks mean much, but this EOL cycle will be fast. For 2.4 there will probably be a dual-core requirement for phones.

Couldn't people be more inventive with the rumors?
How about saying that the Thunderbolt is getting an upgrade for 3d display and camera, HDMI, and will have an optional holographic projector?

;)

Seriously, though, Verizon reps seem to be all over the board in their knowledge and "tech savvy". Some will have a very authoritative voice and yet feed me completely untrue information. (And then, of course, some really do know their stuff.)

I almost never believe anything I hear from them until I see it in writing on the main Verizon website.

She must have been looking at her grocery list and not the Verizon/Google "roadmap."

Besides, a "couple" months in Verizion time = 6 months to never.

I just got off the phone with the rep and they said the Flux capacitor would also be enabled.

I just got back from 2019 and I know for a FACT that the Flux capacitor wasn't enabled until 10/1/11.

BTW the winning lotto number for next week is: 12 19 23 37 38 52 59

This... I've called the reps twice and I've corrected them on a couple things both times, including simple things like the Thunderbolt being able to do voice and data at the same time. They forgot that it could...

I had a VZW level 2 tech tell me he had an EVO. lol.

and after an hour of having me restart the phone told me I needed a new sim....I did not. It was a network issue.

reps and techs = unreliable

as far as honeycomb coming to the bolt... maybe in some form but def not the way this rep has said.

I don't even blame the reps/techs as individuals, they probably get a crash course and kicked out to help you and I. They're just a body to answer the enormous call volume they probably have.

I highly doubt we'll see honeycomb.
