Huawei Nexus SD810 is a DEAL BREAKER for me

Re: Hauwei Nexus DEAL BREAKER!!

I hope your sites are right. I realize megapixels are not the end all/be all. But realizing the Nexus camera may well not live up to the performance of the latest Samsung phones, a few more pixels would help at least as far as being able to crop the image more and still have a good sized image. And it would make me *feel* like I'm getting something more than the 13mp camera on my G3. to

And you would like to think you're also getting something for the weird top back hump too.

I think comparing the performance of a Nexus camera to Samsung is extremely unrealistic. Samsung hit a homerun and has the best camera and software in the business, and they charge a pretty penny for it. I think the Moto Pure would be a much more reasonable comparison. just my 2 cents

Re: Hauwei Nexus DEAL BREAKER!!

Honestly, I think Qualcomm should have just made some revisions to the 805 and release one last Krait-based SoC before putting a 64-bit chip.

The 810 has been nothing but a failure for Qualcomm. Even though it ain't as bad now, the damage has already been done.

I've been thinking about this but I can't seem to put my finger on why the 810 throttles significantly on nearly every phone it's in. Not sure what is causing the chip to heat up quite a lot in the first place.

personally I question how much the 810 has actually been improved in 9 months ... seems reasonable to think the only significant change is the price they're charging OEMs

I don't think their is much changes on the SoC except, maybe, a more mature manufacturing process that lead to more stable and less heterogeneous SoC's power consumption.

If changes their is, it's on the software side : better driver or governor certainly.

For what it's worth, another benchmark says the Huawei Nexus is clocked at 1.9 GHz, as opposed to the ridiculous 1.5..

Yeah, but there's two benchmarks showing 1.55

I have heard benchmarks are easy to fake, so I don't think we should take them seriously. However, the processor and RAM do match up with the earliest leaks.

the front of that bad boy (the pic on phone arena) looks amazing. I can care less about the back, it'll have a case. I'm just envisioning a slim black case, with that all black front, slim bezels with front speakers, no branding ... just clean and simple.

Re: Hauwei Nexus DEAL BREAKER!!

So get a Note 5 (best phone ever) and throw nova on it. problem solved
Try apple for 6 - 8 months, or keep your current phone an additional 6 months..

I think 1.55GHz is the clockspeed of the A53 cluster.

There is no way the A57 would be clocked at 1.55GHz max unless there is a serious thermal-related issue.

Well by now you guys have seen it.

Google chose to go the cheap route and roll with the 810...

How is that "the cheap route"? The 810 is the most expensive chip in the market today, right?

Re: Hauwei Nexus DEAL BREAKER!!

I also think the 810 stuff is overblown. Of course, I would be upgrading from a S4 Pro so I have little to worry about any potential heating/throttling. However, this Geekbench stuff needs some context so I found this information:

Motorola Nexus 6 (Motorola Nexus 6 - Geekbench Browser from 9/15/15)
Single Core Score - 679
Multi-Core Score - 1861

Huawei Angler (Huawei angler - Geekbench Browser from 9/14/15)
Single Core Score - 1188
Multi-Core Score - 4285

I'm pretty sure the 810 will be fine.

Hmm.... That Nexus 6 score is junk. I just ran one on mine and got a 1049/3316

Which is exactly what I would expect. The A57 cores in the 810 are nominally more powerfull than the Krait 400's in the 805. Hence the slightly higher single core score. I can only assume that the multi-core score on the 810 comes from the A57 cluster only (having all 8 cores active is rare).... so that kind of makes sense at the difference in multi-core as well (I also suspect that overall, the A57 cluster has some processing advantages when working as a cluster as opposed to a single core).

So the 810 will be a step faster than the 805... and the fact that the 810's scores are high indicate that the Huawei also does a better job of handling any expended heat. Though, I am curious about the score after, say, 10 consecutive runs.

Lots of people are being very unrealistic and want the 820.

True, but this thought was given more merit when I confronted a certain "leaker", whom I not so affectionately call evFAKES, claimed that the 820 would power the Huawei Nexus, based on a "trusted source" he has, even as evidence to the contrary was already reported. I am now blocked on Twitter for considerately calling said leaker out.

But we've known for many months that the 820 was slated for 2016. The two options (realistically) for Huawei are the 808 and 810. I prefer the 808 of the two, but Huawei didn't ask me.

I agree but like what was said above a "trusted" source was saying the 820 but many of us knew it wouldn't happen because the time lines just didn't fit.

And why the 808? the heating issues? It would be better to go with an underclocked/undervolted 810 down to the 808 level just for the better GPU. I really think either Qualcomm updating their recommended cooling for the chip or the phone manufacturers are listening to what it was all along as the 2 latest 810 offerings have been(so far) great for thermals.

I'm solely basing my opinion of the 808 v 810 on the "tried and true" argument. Two of the best devices this year (G4 and Moto X Pure) have the 808 and zero of the best devices have the 810.

That's a driving force... and I think there are still questions about how well they can work the 810 to eliminate the thermal problems. Right now we have the Z5 and Nexus 6 2015 on their way. If they figured things out and the 810 performs more to where it should, no one here should have any qualms about buying a phone with the 810.

The bulk of the 810's rep comes from the G Flex 2 (paint was still wet on the 810) and the HTC M9 (and HTC can't get out of their own way these days)....

As for the 820 rumors.. those got me. I mean, these companies rarely, if ever, respond to rumors. Qualcomm has come out, several times, and said that the 820 will be first quarter of NEXT year. Never wavering, never being cheeky. "Q1 2016".

Re: Hauwei Nexus DEAL BREAKER!!

first half 2016 according the Qualcomm's press release today .... unfortunately the Nexus will be released before then, so there a good chance we're stuck with the 810.

I'll pass

Pass then. Some of these threads remind me like a baby throwing a temper tantrum. I'm know this is a rumors thread, but come on. Reminds me like my 5 year old not getting the stabilizers on his new fire truck.

HTC One M9 and the one plus two are great example with 810.
