Huawei SMS message app issues

I recently discovered an issue with their msging app it won't allow you to message without the - in-between numbers. I thought I resolved the issue however when I text someone that's already my contact it was missing a - so I edited and corrected still won't allow me to text msg them. It's pretty frustrating. Anyone have the same issues or solve this issue?

Have you tried installing another messaging app, to see if it's the app or your carrier? Google Messages will work. So will Messages.

It could also be your Contacts app causing the problem. Try Contacts or Contacts+.

I would try textra or Google message app if you can.

I'm currently using Google messages and it works perfectly fine. The reason why I'm trying to start using their messages I read as of sometime in March Google messages will stop working on devices that is not GMS phone that is not on their list and I really like using google messages too
