I Am Amazed By This Thing

I totally agree with you. I also came from Blackberry Torch myself about a month ago. I am rocking the g nex and i couldn't be happier. I also defended BlackBerry with tooth and nail but once I realized BB10 wont be any better then android just really equal at best. I told myself why wait till next year for the new BB. So i made the switch and couldn't be happier. I am also picking up the nexus 7 soon as well. The funny thing is that Rims new slogan of being a phone company for people getting done is a joke. As I am getting stuff done a lot faster with my nexus and highly doubt anything Rim releases will over take where android is now especially with Jelly Bean.

Im exactly the same as soon as i realised that bb10 was never going to come i just thought thats it i've had my lot with RIM not bieng truthful to there loyal customers. I carnt speak for previous android UI's but this jelly bean just feels so polished

I'm very happy with mine as well. Ive had a Galaxy Nexus since day one and have really enjoyed it. So as soon as I saw the release coming for N7 I new that I wanted one. I had been using a Kindle Fire so I knew that I really liked the seven inch size. I had rooted and rom'd the KF and it was pretty good but I wanted the N7. I sold the KF to help pay for the N7 and I unlocked and rooted the N7 as soon as I received it. I'm impressed with the way it handles games as well. I don't have anything negative at all to report. :)

I am STOKED to have mine!!

I forgot at first when i got my UPS shipment how small a 7" tablet was lol so i was like "wait is this my Nexus 7?"

My unboxing was much easier than they showed on some of the videos lol I didn't have any 2nd set of tape on it. The battery was at about 35% when i turned it on. Connected to wifi super easy. Currently downloading the transformers movie to see how the video quality is.

I'm loving the size of this thing. I've used an iPad and i think this is much more the size i prefer to be using all the time.

Drove myself crazy looking at the left side of it hoping i wouldn't have any screen separation issues. So far so good. Looks like as many posts as we've seen about it, its not a very good chance of getting the actual problem.

I will have to say with the half hour i've had this thing, i'm already ready to go Android for my next phone.

I LOVE IT!!! ok got to go back to my new fun tablet!

Just got my nexus 7 this morning and its left me amazed, I know they messed the launch up and there may be a few faulty ones but is there anything this device cannot do? Games are amazing, screen quality is insanely good, Google now and directions work great, and jelly bean runs like a boss? You couldn't ask for much more from a ?160 device

Used to be blackberry but the nexus 7 pisses all over apple and rim and sends them crying home to mommy which is why I've ordered the galaxy s3 to complete my new collection

Hope everyone iS having as much fun on this as I am

I hope you are rooting the S3 you are going to be very disappointed to have touchwiz and no Jellybean on the S3 after playing with the N7.

I have never used a tablet or smartphone before and am a Linux geek. SUPER impressed by this beast. The value for money is incredible. Apple finally has a proper competitor and I am compelled to say that Google has finally done Linux on the desktop properly (android is linux under the hood). It took 15 years but this is it.

Consider myself to be quite handy with technology but i havent a clue how to root an android device, thanks though as soon as it comes i'll be right on it

I never did before my Galaxy Nexus and now i've done the N7... these are easy, the S3 might be a bit trickier, but the real techies have already done the hard part i'm sure, there are usually simple step by step guides...

I can't wait for CM10 to come out, CM with Jellybean will be awesome!

I agree for the most part. But I do have quibbles. I find Google Now disappointing, if only because Google's own apps (Scoreboard, News and Weather) offered more functionality.

It took me 3 days, but I'm now amazed too.

When I first got mine on Tuesday the screen looked washed out and whites over saturated, making text on white backgrounds look fuzzy. I didn't notice much improvement yesterday, but today it actually looks pretty good.

I still have an issue playing some videos causing the over saturation to reoccur, but it seems to only last a few seconds now than goes back to normal.

I was worried I might have to return mine, but looks like it's going to be fine now. Just need some time to settle in.

I used the DPI tweak to get the tablet UI. It was nice, but I decided to go back to the stock DPI setting. The tablet UI was a bit small and I didn't want to hassle with app incompatibility. And I really don't mind the phone UI anyway. I use YouTube a lot and I think the phone version is much better looking too.

Haven't even touched my iPad 3 since I got this.

My screen was perfect right out of the box, just watched transformers and couldn't believe how good it looked on a small screen, what do you think of Google chrome? Mine is a bit laggy

I love it as well. I'm thinking of saying goodbye to my Ipad.

Yeah, my Chrome was pretty sluggish too. I switched to Dolphin. It doesn't seem to render text as nicely, but it's so much faster, it has a full screen mode and desktop agent setting. And it seems to block some ads that Chrome loads (probably why it's so much faster on some sites).

Mine literally just came in (unboxing went well after the top sleeve cover travesty). I am literally stunned by it, well worth the wait. The screen is gorgeous, it's buttery smooth, Google Now is amazing. Easily the best device I've ever owned period.

Do you have to root before you can try the DPI tweak?
Was the UI too small to be useable?
Did you find any apps that would not work with the tweak?

The Google now is that good its scary, carnt even imagine how accurate this voice regognition stuff is going to be in a few years time if its this precise now

I just let my dad mess with it who has an iPhone, he was stunned. Haha hopefully he'll get a nexus 7 soon, of course I'll warn him about buying it from Google directly :P

The UI was still very usable. The system fonts were a bit small, but readable. You can enable "larger fonts", but I found those were too big. The notifications were a pretty small too, but still usable.

I had already installed most of my apps I need for now before doing the tweak, so didn't run into any compatibility issues. For me I though 170 DPI looked a bit better than 160 DPI. Though folks say 160 will be more compatible since that is a standard DPI while 170 isn't.

The DPI tweak is pretty nice. I just removed it because I'm pretty okay with the Phone UI and just figured it wasn't worth potential hassle later.

Also, someone mentioned the Engadget app doesn't look right on the Nexus 7, but with 160 DPI it looks perfect, so the DPI tweak even fixes some apps. :)

had to cancel my pre-order on this thing and it was hard.

after commuting underground the last week i realized that the lack of removable storage was a deal breaker. the whole point of having a nice compact 7" tablet was to take it with me on the go, a lot. since i commute every day, i want to be able to keep around 10-15gb of music on my tablet permanently. and still have room to download movies to watch and more.

this tablet just couldn't do that, because google wanted to stick me into the Play cloud. i like google play, but i am just away from wifi all too often when i need to have data. data in the form of entertainment files, from music to movies.

with 16gb i would have to constantly be moving files on and off. sure every night or morning i could load up a bunch of stuff to read via a kindle app, pulse or pocket or what not. with 16 gb. but otherwise i'd be fubared.

very upset.

going to have to keep an eye out for an asus tablet that runs vanilla android, and gives me a simple external micro sd slot. that's all this thing needs.
