I am impressed with the LG G6

I have to say i agree with everything you have said. Love the g6. In fact im done with v20 and itll go on ebay soon. Battery life is much better than v20, smaller size is a huge plus as well. If g6 had 64gb on board, this would have been a home run instead LG chose to gimp it with 32gb. Even with that in mind, ill take g6 over v20 any day.

That's why we are all wired different.... I wouldn't give up my V20 for anything at the moment even if it was free. I like the big normal aspect screen. The battery life is ok but I have options. Extra battery, extended batteries. I can run this thing all day long and in some cases its no bulkier than putting a cover on it. The 64 is built in.... And the most amazing feature is the DAC. When I say its makes my old music sound new again because I can hear things I didn't hear in the past.

I'm becoming increasingly more disenchanted with the G6... the phone is great... great screen, wonderful performance and good battery life....

But...

I dunno... I'm sorry but the camera ain't nothing to sneeze at. Even in good lighting, it's processing pics to an inch of their lives and anything taken in not-so-ideal lighting ends up a looking like someone ran them through way too many photo filters. It's at the point where I might end up giving my wife, who takes far more pics than me, my 6P and take her G6... then deal with that until the Pixel 2s come out in the fall.

Can you give us an example? I'm taking great pics..

Oh shut up you....

Well, I'll be able to do more details comparisons soon... I'll be taking the G6 and giving her my 6P while I figure out what to do with it. She didn't even blink before agreeing.

OK... I figured some stuff out... First and foremost; LG's HDR implementation is absolute dog poo. Seriously, it's junk. When I originally set up the G6 for my wife I played around with a lot of functions and left HDR 'on'. That resulted in pics that were blurry, noisy. Most were unusable. She, of course, blamed me... so I switched and gave her my 6P while I figured it out. HDR did nothing good to any picture that I used it on... none... pictures were blurrier and there was a significant INCREASE in noise.

So while it's still not quite as good, in terms of straight picture quality, as my 6P, it's not a hot mess... carry on! :)

Hmm.. I leave HDR on all the time.. you totally might have a bad unit.

Soooo . . . what's your point in being here? To try and convince us we're all stupid for liking our phones? I don't get it, if you don't like it then fine, but I guess I find this to be unusually boorish behavior for someone identified as an ambassador/moderator? Then again, maybe it's just me . . .

Where did he say that at all? He simply studied various things about the phone and posted his findings / opinions.

Please don't try and insert things that are clearly not there...

I apologize, I guess I felt that words like "shut up", "dog poo", "junk", just seemed a little off from how most moderators interact or offer opinions about phones and features . . Guess I was maybe just being too sensitive, but I did not "insert" those words they are his/hers. I want to be careful and humble when speaking to the moderator team leader, obviously I defer to your better judgment, but for an ambassador/moderator to come into a thread about being impressed with the g6, and using the words he/she did, I guess I wouldn't say the impression is "clearly not there".

When did he say shut up to anyone besides me? You do realize he was talking to me.. due to my post mocking him right? (https://forums.androidcentral.com/showthread.php?p=5860678)

The rest was just him describing how he felt about the devices. So I've seen many other members say way more harsh things about phones and whatnot but you're saying because he is a mod he can't use the word "junk" if he thinks it is? Really?...

Like I said, I apologize, obviously I'm the one who's off here . . .

phew... leave for a little bit and look what happens. :)

Look, I get REALLY technical when I evaluate phone cameras... probably to a fault. These things are getting so good that you really have to hammer the weak points to really flesh things out. If you polled the other vol staff here, I am pretty sure many have grown tired on the long winded tangents I'll take on our team Hangouts while I obsess over some tiny bit of technical minutia. But I see it as a valuable service.

I AM impressed with this phone... VERY impressed actually. It is, by a WIDE margin, the best device I've ever used from LG. One of LG's hallmarks was always janky UI performance... none on this sucker. They've made incredible strides in fixing a lot of the weird UI choices they've made in the past. They really killed in with this thing. But it has its faults... one of those is a HDR implementation that is... yes... dog poo... :) I can reproduce its results myself with a free photo editing app and a minute or two of work... and I just expect more. I mean, I am a HUGE fan of Google's approach with HDR+ (which isn't really HDR).... And I use that lens when another OEM takes the 'better living through software' approach when it comes to photography. This isn't 2014.. you gotta bring your A-game.

And to be honest, there's a bit of frustration boiling to the surface. I've been on a long long journey to get my wife a phone that suits her needs and doesn't cause ME strife, because, you know, I work at Google, Samsung, LG, HP, Microsoft and every other company that develops products we use because when they go south, I am the one that takes the heat. And HER experience with the G6's camera, which I assured her would be spectacular, sort of put me in a digital doghouse. But she's using my reliable-as-the-sun-rises-in-the-East 6P while I use her G6...

And using it QUITE happily I might add.

Yeah, pretty embarrassed this morning about last night's interaction, not sure what my problem was, I normally appreciate such 'anal'ysis 😉 . . I hope we can all just carry on now . .. .

You obviously know your stuff when it comes to cameras. If you could give us a few tips as how to get the most out of this camera, that would be appreciated. Is it better to leave HDR off entirely? Share your preferred setup. Thanks

I could go on for hours on the subject... but I don't want to take the thread off the rails. :) Maybe I'll throw up a helpful guide when I get the chance.
