You can see the new features using the updated camera app from ApkMirror. It has the new carousel, raw mode and better panorama controls. Also new photo effects. I took a portrait selfie with it and changed it to color pop which made the background black and white and kept me in colour. View attachment 291986

I ordered the 128 pixel 3 in white from project fi during that tragedy of a keynote. delivery date 19-20 unfortunately no free pixel stand was offered which I would have much preferred over the 6 months of youtube music (which I dont get anyway because I am not a new user as I have gp music). To top it all off the 150 dollar price bump over the previous pixel has me at nearly 1k after tax. since I really don't get any real benefit to preordering i am thinking about cancelling my order and waiting a month or two until there is an offer

YMMV obviously, the point still remains the same. Go ahead and spend your 800 to 1000 any way you want. I am sure your eyes will be able to see the display and picture quality differences when you are staring at a 6 inch display........ Either way, if you feel like you are getting 300+ dollars of value, then enjoy it. Personally I fail to see how the Pixel 3 has warranted that large of a price jump from the 2.

It is not a simple question of is phone A more expensive than phone B. You need to look at the TCO (total cost of ownership). In short order the OnePlus would end up costing me more than the 3 XL due to the networks I would be forced onto.

The other factor is how you use your phone. I take a ton of pictures. Having a fast, responsive, camera that takes great pictures is worth a good bit of money to me.

Not to mention other factors like ongoing support and updates for the phone. What kind of skin and bloatware are you going to be forced to deal with. Can you tether without having to root your device.

The list goes on. For my usecase the Pixel 3 comes out on top. Sure it is more expensive than I think it should be. Nor is it my ideal phone. But it is the best of the options for me.

Honestly for how much I use the phone and that I will most likely use it for 2-3 years. A couple of hundred dollars really does not amount to much in the scheme of things. Of course if the Pixel 4 comes out with something radical I might be upgrading quicker than expected.

The display is much much better. Display Mate has it on par with the Note 9 and new iPhones.

It's only a $100 difference, $899 or $999 both are high so not big difference in price for me personally. I gladly pay $100 more for bigger screen and battery.
