I have spent way too much time trying to do this. Everyother phone I have ever owned, it took 2 seconds....I have a Jabra BT8040, I have followed the instructions but it appears when its searching for the "device" its not finding it. Any ideas. Thanks:cool:

Ok so no advice yet? according to the instructions in the Captivate manual "BLUETOOTH RADIO MUST BE ON" in order to find the device???? what is a bluetooth radio? or they talking about the actual bluetooth?(why don;t they just say BLUETOOTH MUST BE TURNED ON???
Where it says device, do I change that to the jabra headset instead of the phone?
I am so confused, it has NEVER been like this to pair any bluetooth with any phone I have owned, I have tried 19 times and it doesn't find the device. what am I doing wrong. HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:(:(:(:(:(:(

I can't believe nobody's offering help on this... I've never tried anything bluetooth but I just played around with it on my laptop and the same procedure should work for a headset.

In Settings>Bluetooth settings> enable Bluetooth. Don't change the device name, it should be your phone. Press Visible. Put your headset in broadcast mode for pairing (can't really help you there; hold the power button for a length of time or push the power button "x" amount of times?? See your headset instructions.). Then press Scan devices on your phone and the headset should show up.
Your phone should ask for a 4 digit pairing number. I seem to remember that the vast majority are 0000 (again, see your headset instructions if 0000 doesn't work). And that should do it.
Bluetooth isn't that strong of a signal. Make sure the headset is fully charged too.

Don't know if I helped...if not reply back and hopefully somebody else can offer up the right solution.

Go to the store that sold you the bluetooth, and stand there while they make pairing work to your phone. That's what I did this week with my first bluetooth headset. If they can't pair bluetooth with your phone, you prolly won't be able too, and you should get the store to sell you one that will pair.
Then, you can agonize about fancy extra features the bluetooth claims to have that are incompatible with your particular phone (e.g., certain voice commands of Motorola headsets only compatible with Captivates upgrades to Froyo (2.2)).
