I could not be more disappointed at Note 8 now that it has been unveiled.

I could not be more disappointed, the Note 8 is nothing more than a barely upgraded S8. I knew it would be similar but I did not know it would be THIS similar! I am shocked that Samsung did not do something revolutionary or something that would truly put it in a category all by itself. The S Pen is definitely not enough. This was supposed to be the phone to make us all forget about the Note 7, but all it has done to me is reminded me of the S8+. Who is Samsung fooling? Surely not me or any other educated phone lovers. I've been waiting to upgrade from my Note 5 but now I think I will stick with it. I almost contemplated getting the S8+ after the big unveiling today but I think that phone too is subpar. I think I'll hold out for another year. Shame on you Samsung you're fooling no one!

The only thing that is disappointing are ridiculous posts like this. 6GB RAM and those awesome new dual cameras are enough to separate the new Note 8 from the S8.

You won't be satisfied until the alleged Galaxy X comes out to say it's different.

I'm not getting it only because my S5 is still going well and meeting all my needs. But if it crapped itself tomorrow, I'd be very happy with the Note 8. Only a few things to me keep it from being near perfect. If the battery was bigger, the embedded scanner was in and it had dual speakers and LG like DAC for audio, it would be just about perfect.

As it is, I think it's excellent and definitely a class above the S8 series.

Sorry, but if you "couldn't be more disappointed", have you ignored every last leak for the last month? We pretty much got exactly what we expected.

It really gets old that people expect the Note series to be totally different than the S series. Is the last two or three years not enough track record to teach you this? Personally, I love the S series, but want the S pen so I'm thrilled that the Note is that, but with the new camera setup.

I had held off on getting the S8+ to wait for the note announcement. I currently have an iPhone 7 plus and have had an iPhone as my daily driver since late 2014. However prior to this I used galaxy phones and I always preferred the Note series. Yes the note 8 isn't a big upgrade over the S8+ but that phone was already top of the range. By the time the keynote came round we pretty much knew what we were getting spec wise. I'm opting for the note 8 because it has an S-pen, dual lens camera and 6GB of ram plus it's slightly bigger than the S8+.

Agreed. There have been differences enough between the S and Notes. The Note 4 had the first Edge screen, over the previous S5. The infamous Note 7 had off screen notes and the iris scanner. The new one has 6 GB RAM plus dual cameras. Only the Note 5 seemed to have little difference.

And this trend looks to continue. All the current rumours indicate that the much awaited embedded scanner will debut in the Note 9-over and above the S9.

It would have been nice if Sammy finally included stereo speakers. I would also like an update S-note, and maybe a little wider screen. Not to fond of the tall look. I'm still getting one though.

What were you expecting. The staged leaks by Samsung pretty much outlined the features for several weeks. I have not seen a surprise from Samsung ant the official announcement for several years.

Stereo speakers aren't needed. I don't know why a handful of people care so much about this.

Because I'm personally sick of low volume, tinny speakers. Like a lot of others. My biggest gripe of my current S5.
I agree sound quality isn't great, (btw, S8 though, is much better than the s5) but just making them stereo wouldn't change that. We'd just have two tinny sounding speakers. What is needed is a speaker with better sound quality. For example, my Bose Revolve+ bluetooth speaker is not stereo but has better sound quality than any phone with stereo speakers.

Appreciate the heads up on your disappointment! Pre-Ordering mine as soon as I get home from work.
I tried to pre-order mine at midnight last night but they were so backed up with pre-orders I wasn't able to get through very well I try to get in this morning at 5 and success

I'm not a fan of the FPS placement, I didn't think I would like it on the back, but its been fine on my V20 I just don't like how high its going to be on the phone. But from what I understand everybody got their complaining about it out with the S8, so I guess I'll shut up about it lol.

I have only glanced at the S8+, wish I had looked at it more now to get a size feeling. I'm just not a fan of the 18.5x9 ratio. I get it might make it easier to do 1 handed typing, but it makes it harder to reach things at the top of the screen or the FPS(I know I said I would shut up). But it also makes the phone narrower which seems like it gives you less room to use the wonderful s-pen, so it just seems weird to me.

I'm not sure if what I see here is enough to bring me back to the note, wish the V30 release was a little sooner so I could do a better comparison. That being said, one of the things I loved, possibly my favorite thing, from note 7 was the screen off memo. I love being able to jot down a reminder that is then staring me in the face all day till I either do it, or have it drilled into me that I don't even need the reminder any more. That itself may be enough to make me get the note 8. But then to see the decent price from best buy with the extra goodies. Although I think I might prefer the dex to the 360 camera but i need to read up on its uses more. I already have wireless charges from when i bought the note 7(for both myself and my wife) and I have a 256GB SD card from the recall as well so I don't see me choosing the galaxy foundation kit. I am just waiting to see how the discount from samsung plays out. If it applies, even if you don't have a samsung phone and how it compares to normal trade in or resale value on my phone(or can I turn in any old phone lol).

Either way, I am excited for the note to be back. I just hope the positives outweigh the negatives for all of us.

I figured that Samsung would have a surprise or two for us that had not been leaked.

Good to know. Gonna make that purchase as soon as I get home lol.

Sounds like you're not going to be happy with anything. Maybe you need to stock up on a few Note 5's to keep you happy for a while. I'm happy and I think there are more happy than non happy people and can't wait to get their hands on this phone because even if you're not liking this phone you're probably not going to like anything they come out with in the future
