I could not be more disappointed at Note 8 now that it has been unveiled.

The cameras seem more like a gimmick than something that will be frequently used. The spen...not upgraded from 7 (animated gif is a total gimmick that i may use one time). Fingerprint scanner...not improved. Taller than s8+......only in the slightest. Why would I pay so much more for these "improvements" for?? I'm not trolling, I just really want to know.

That's for you to answer, not us. Samsung isn't forcing you to buy their latest phone. The S8+ is the most highly acclaimed phone of the year thus far. Add an S-pen and dual cameras and it gets even better.

If that's not enough, stop complaining and simply buy another device.

I could not be more disappointed, the Note 8 is nothing more than a barely upgraded S8. I knew it would be similar but I did not know it would be THIS similar! I am shocked that Samsung did not do something revolutionary or something that would truly put it in a category all by itself. The S Pen is definitely not enough. This was supposed to be the phone to make us all forget about the Note 7, but all it has done to me is reminded me of the S8+. Who is Samsung fooling? Surely not me or any other educated phone lovers. I've been waiting to upgrade from my Note 5 but now I think I will stick with it. I almost contemplated getting the S8+ after the big unveiling today but I think that phone too is subpar. I think I'll hold out for another year. Shame on you Samsung you're fooling no one!

I’m an “educated phone lover” (lol) and I as well as plenty others find that the small differences are worth it. They talked a lot about it yesterday and that’s the Note power users who are die hard fans of the pen.

That’s enough for this “educated phone lover”.

Really... How much can be changed/improved from year to year consistently? I'm happy every single year with every single Note. Even though N7 was taken, I was ecstatic with it. I'm a bit grumpy about S Note, but 1 monkey won't stop the show.

I could not be more disappointed at this thread's premise now that it has been seen.

For all of the complaining about the 18.5:1 ratio screen... Would you rather have something like this?
I know I wouldn't.

I figured that Samsung would have a surprise or two for us that had not been leaked.

Yeah, that would always be nice but for the last two or three years, the leaks end up being pretty much spot on by the time the device is unveiled.

lol! The more I read all these threads the more confused I get. I have both a iPhone 6 and a Note 5. Checking today on pre-orders and color availability all I can get is the unlocked in Black. Was up and down on the grey. Like the S8+ Coral Blue.

So I could trade in one phone for the 8+ or Note 8 in Black. Can't decide if I do the 8+ Coral Blue and trade in the iPhone then wait on more colors for the N8 and trade in my Note 5..........Thinking hard.........I use the S Pen maybe 20% or less of the time, so it's more about color, more storage......Not sure about the camera as my N5 takes great pictures and the S8+ is just as good if not better. If the Grey was available I might go and trade in the iPhone on that.

Yes one big confused puppy here. This sucks.

Stereo speakers aren't needed. I don't know why a handful of people care so much about this.

Different people want different things (more like a nice thing to have). I agree its not needed. However, there are a lot of things not needed i.e. S-pen, large display, AMOLED display, games etc. A lot of things are made necessary through usage. It's a phone...made for communicating. However through the years all this stuff was added for convenience.

The things you listed are much more important than stereo speakers. Yes, it is a phone made for communicating. Mono speakers do that just fine. If someone said I had to choose between mono speakers or bigger bezels, the answer would be "Give me the mono speaker and smaller bezels"

LOL @ stereo speakers. Name one Samsung phone with that feature...ever

Ummmm name one Samsung phone with an infinity display before the S8 ever, name one Samsung phone with two cameras ever before the Note 8, name one with 6gb of ram, etc...

Basically using this argument we shouldn't expect advancement from Samsung EVER

Stereo speakers aren't advancement. Stereo speakers used to be very common and now are not as phones slim down. Going to stereo speakers would be regressive.

As I stated, usage make things necessary. For instance, many people still have the iPhone 5c cause they don't see the need for a bigger screen or think it's to big. Gamers or audiophiles might want a more immersive sound experience. Basically, there are many people out there and to each there own.

The only iPhone owners I know that have an old iPhone are people that can't afford a new iPhone.

Exactly what were you expecting?

Some surprises and a few things that drastically separated from the s 8 line. There just isn't enough of a difference for me to Warrant paying so much more for this phone. Like I said an earlier post I'm not trolling I just want help rationalizing why I should get this phone and not keep my Note 5. I've been super excited for this phone since I heard it was coming out and I want hard to feel like I'm making the right decision if I decide to purchase it.

The Note 8 is easily better than the Note 5. It's better in every way that isn't durability. I'm not sure why you don't understand that.
