I could not be more disappointed at Note 8 now that it has been unveiled.

This whole arguing in the thread is ridiculous. If you don't like it, don't buy it. No one has a gun to your head. It's also impossible to please every potential customer, so you have to find your group and appeal to them. That's just common business sense. I work for an oil company, I don't go around telling people why gas is a better heat source. To be disappointed is fine, but to try to convince the online world why your right is a weird move.

Yes no one has a gun to anyones head but opinions are allowed to be shared. If someone wants to talk about that.. that's fine. There is nothing wrong with that.

No one put a gun to your head to read the thread right? See what I did there? ;).

I missed some words, I'm not saying not to have an opinion, not in the least. I was only trying to say to argue your opinion about what's wrong with something is pointless as nothing is perfect. It's all about how people perceive things and to convince someone your logic is correct and theirs isn't is a pointless endeavor, in my own personal opinion.

Almeuit, trust me no harm was meant to the op or anything along those lines. I just don't see why people get defensive.

Haha I can understand somewhat -- but that happens literally every single day here. People disagree and debate on things all the time. From removable batteries, to headphone jacks, all the way down to who they think has the better stock UI. It is one thing that will never change. As long as people are respectful then they can have it :P.

I have to agree the Note 8 isn't much to jump for. The Spen is a nice addition and the camera upgrade seems nice but the limit on the 64 gig, the color limits, the fact the phone is only slighter bigger than the S8 plus is disappointing and the cost is also unreasonable.

Absolutely agree, I lurk way more than post but I do browse quite often. I mean I get it, forums are in the form of group discussion, and there are always going to be opinions discussed. After reading the posts prior to mine I felt as though several people were trying to sell others on their ideals which I just disagreed with. Didn't mean to come off the way I did.

The nicest looking phone in the business is the Note 8, the squarish corners give it a very futuristic look. It is one beautiful piece of hardware.

I don't like hard, square corners and, accordingly, use a well padded leather folio/wallet.

It doesn't have OIS on both cameras. It's screen doesn't get close to the NIT of the Note 8.

Who said that there wasn't a perfect phone!? Note 7! I would have let it burn me to a crisp. But, alas, they killed it. I didn't...

Not a single feature I liked until I played with the damn thing in the VZW store. I was very happy with my V20. It does more I actually use but I am a child and now I want the Note 8 anyway. I'd like to snap out of it. Pressure is on to do it while Note 7 owner trade in deal is still on.

At this point in the game it's strictly about personal preference. There's no such thing as a bad flagship anymore and arguing about which device is superior is a waste of time. Think about it. You have a device you can carry in your pocket that allows you to create and share media, messages, and opinions to the entire world in seconds regardless of who made it or what model it is. How ridiculous is it to banter back and forth about which one is better?

I want to play with the stylus, so I got the Note. I may not like it, but that doesn't make it less of a phone to me than say a V30 or an iPhone.
First world problems.

...meaning it may have been perfect for you, but others may have thought another phone was perfect and the Note7 wasn't. We all know now the Note7 wasn't perfect. But, you get my point.

My particular Note 7 was perfect until proven imperfect; which it never was, so it's still perfect! ;-D

If you don't care about an SPen then you didn't need a Note in the first place. Stop comparing it to the s8 plus.

I don't understand why the OP is upset. The Note 7 was much more of a. incremental upgrade over the S7 Edge, but it still sold in huge numbers and had many converts from the S7 Edge. Personally I'm pleased that this time there is at least 2GB RAM, a brighter screen (1300 nits for outdoor glare), and a good dual camera. Those are pretty significant. It's also important to recognize that we're living in a great time for smartphones. How many improvements can they make? Sure, they could have added stereo speakers, but that would have done away with the infinity display. I wish they added a 32 bit DAC, but that's never been Samsung's strong point (except in the Note 4 with the Wolffson DAC).

Doesn't the Snapdragon 835 come with a 32-bit DAC combined with their Aqstic codec?

The S-pen also comes with additional screen tech to make it work.... so it is not $800 more for just a pen... plus other features everyone has pointed out.

Try and buy a S-pen and use it on the J series.
I had a J phone for daughter as a temp phone. By no means is it anywhere close to the Note 8. But it did work well and for its price, wasn't too bad.

I could not be more disappointed, the Note 8 is nothing more than a barely upgraded S8. I knew it would be similar but I did not know it would be THIS similar! I am shocked that Samsung did not do something revolutionary or something that would truly put it in a category all by itself. The S Pen is definitely not enough. This was supposed to be the phone to make us all forget about the Note 7, but all it has done to me is reminded me of the S8+. Who is Samsung fooling? Surely not me or any other educated phone lovers. I've been waiting to upgrade from my Note 5 but now I think I will stick with it. I almost contemplated getting the S8+ after the big unveiling today but I think that phone too is subpar. I think I'll hold out for another year. Shame on you Samsung you're fooling no one!
