I could not be more disappointed at Note 8 now that it has been unveiled.

Only a few things to me keep it from being near perfect. If the battery was bigger, the embedded scanner was in and it had dual speakers and LG like DAC for audio, it would be just about perfect.

I think you items listed above would make it perfect for me as well... minus the LG DAC I don't do hifi music on my phone. To bad the underscreen FPS is quite there yet.

Because I'm personally sick of low volume, tinny speakers. Like a lot of others. My biggest gripe of my current S5.

I agree... I too would like front facing speakers that you can't block with your thumb. Even if that is nice when you are in the bathroom at work watching a video and someone walks in...LOL

I may just have to agree with you on this one.. The N8 seems to be for camera lovers and those who prefer a stylus.. The N9 will be the phone to have as its likely to have T-Mobile's new 600mhz capability and the upcoming SnapDragon 845.

I'm sorry, but.......of course the Note line is going to be for people who prefer a stylus. Why are people acting so caught off guard by this? I swear almost all of the people who are always disappointed in the Note's, are the ones who never use the S pen anyway. Stop thinking the Note is going to focus on something other than the S pen. It has top of the line everything, but the focus will or should always be the S pen.

Absolutely!

The nicest looking phone in the business is the Note 8, the squarish corners give it a very futuristic look. It is one beautiful piece of hardware.

Voila' Dunno.jpg Thank you Sir!

No, it isn't

Yeah, they're bringing out a J7 Plus in Berlin next week and it will have the Note 8's Cameras but they haven't announced it or the price, only some leaks so I don't know how he says a third the price! Just Google "Samsung J7 Plus" - it still won't do what a Note can do so what's his point???

Samsung new j7 is a third of the price and exactly the same camera... So we are paying basically $800 more just for the pen
Historically the J7's cost about half the flagships.

Also regarding J7 prime based in rumors about it:
1. smaller battery
2. No wireless charging
3. Smaller screen
4. Lower resolution screen
5. Processor will be a lower end one compared to Note 8 obviously
6. Smaller RAM
7. Smaller internal memory
8. No OIS
9. The weaker processor would mean no 60fps recording.
10. The front camera is worse

What else to expect?
1. No gyroscope. Historically Jseries skip the gyros and settle for accelerometers
2. No water resistance
3. No NFC - hence no Samsung or Android Pay
4. Jseries also historically has no sensors for auto brightness
5. Obviously no SPen and associated software features.
6. None to limited updates. Historically only the best selling J series gets updates, plus only for the one major update. After that jusy security updates. That J7 prime won't be getting Android P like the Note 8 will.

So no, the SPen is just one of a much longer list of things you will pay for on the Note 8.

The only reason im not getting the note 8 is because i have the s8 and it would cost me close to 300 to switch. I really like the way it feels.

At this point in the game it's strictly about personal preference. There's no such thing as a bad flagship anymore and arguing about which device is superior is a waste of time. Think about it. You have a device you can carry in your pocket that allows you to create and share media, messages, and opinions to the entire world in seconds regardless of who made it or what model it is. How ridiculous is it to banter back and forth about which one is better?

I want to play with the stylus, so I got the Note. I may not like it, but that doesn't make it less of a phone to me than say a V30 or an iPhone.

That's exactly right. No point in arguing which phone is better. Everyone has different wants and needs. And everyone has their own preference of what makes a great phone. So there's no point in arguing. All flagships have there respective pluses and minuses. So many great choices out there.

The S-pen also comes with additional screen tech to make it work.... so it is not $800 more for just a pen... plus other features everyone has pointed out.

Try and buy a S-pen and use it on the J series.
