I could not be more disappointed at Note 8 now that it has been unveiled.

I'm not dissapointed at all with the note. The return of the s pen, duel camera's & 6gb's. The only thing I question is the 3300mamp battery. Will it comfortably get you threw an entire day? I did not pre-order I'll just wait for the reviews & Black Friday. I'm sure I can wait a few more months!

The battery concerns me as well. With a bigger screen, the 835 chip can only do so much (as far as battery efficiency). Cant wait to test it out. The S8 at 3000 mAh consistently got me 6+ hrs.

I could not be more disappointed, the Note 8 is nothing more than a barely upgraded S8. I knew it would be similar but I did not know it would be THIS similar! I am shocked that Samsung did not do something revolutionary or something that would truly put it in a category all by itself. The S Pen is definitely not enough. This was supposed to be the phone to make us all forget about the Note 7, but all it has done to me is reminded me of the S8+. Who is Samsung fooling? Surely not me or any other educated phone lovers. I've been waiting to upgrade from my Note 5 but now I think I will stick with it. I almost contemplated getting the S8+ after the big unveiling today but I think that phone too is subpar. I think I'll hold out for another year. Shame on you Samsung you're fooling no one!

Phone development has plateaued slowly over the last few years. The fact is, there really isn't much more that can be done to these devices so unlike years past, year to year or same year upgrades are going to offer fewer new and impressive features.

The argument that the S8+ to the Note 8 upgrade isn't worth it is just noise to me and not a valid complaint IMHO. I got one because I wanted one, end of story.

Note 5 and S6 Edge were the same phone, one had the edge the other the pen.

Note 7 was an S7 edge with slightly larger display and a pen.

Note 8 is a slightly bigger S8 plus with pen and dual camera, just as leaks suggested.

What did you expect?

Agreed.

I agree. We are not in the revolutionary stage of smartphone development. Why anyone would expect something major is beyond me. The Note 8 has some very nice evolutionary changes that will satisfy my needs.

I have really warmed up to the Note 8, after playing with it on several occasions now.
It looks like the future.
And that camera.
It's just slightly taller than my Note Edge and a little narrower but feels lighter.

the latest design for phones are all screen no home buttons. I also like the LG V30, based on rumors, looks a lot like the iPhone 8 though.

All i wanted was stereo front facing speakers and samsung wouldn't give them to me! Still pre ordering the note 8 though.

I may just have to agree with you on this one.. The N8 seems to be for camera lovers and those who prefer a stylus.. The N9 will be the phone to have as its likely to have T-Mobile's new 600mhz capability and the upcoming SnapDragon 845.

Ahhhh, the Note 9 is what I plan to get. Can you imagine how blown away I will be upgrading from my S5?

Samsung new j7 is a third of the price and exactly the same camera... So we are paying basically $800 more just for the pen

Has Samsung ever offered that on a smartphone?
No, and personally I hope they never do. I understand the posters need. I assume better speakers will assist with sight needs. But for me I see no value in tiny built in stereo speakers. I prefer a larger screen.

Note 9 is nothing, I hear the Note 12 is going to be great. No physical screen, AR screen will appear, like in Iron Man movies. Will skip the 8, 9, 10 and 11 Notes.

I have the 2 largest tablets Samsung has ever put out. 12.2" and 18.4" and none of these two have front facing stereo speakers.

Although the speakers on the Galaxy View 18.4" are very good, but they are rear facing.
And the speakers on the 12.2" are crappy as hell and they are side facing.

Therefore, don't hold your breath for front-facing stereo speakers on Sammy phones when they don't care to put them on massive tablets. :)

If the speakers aren't great, so be it. But I would like to see a LG type DAC for awesome headphone audio experience.

Dual speakers are nice, I have them on my iPhone 7 plus and my iPad Pro 10.5. Well my iPad has quad speakers actually. However more than one speaker is not a deal breaker. The note 8 has so many other things going for it that the lack of dual speakers doesn't really matter to me. I'd rather have an ir blaster than dual speakers lol I think I'm more likely to get the latter than the former though in a future note ??????

Incidentally it's funny that they are moving away from front facing speakers. I had the galaxy tab 2 10.1 and it had two big front facing speakers.

The Tab S3 has quad speakers.

I would have wanted to see Under glass FPS, stereo speakers, Quad DAC... At the very least they could have moved the FPS to a better spot if they couldn't do any of the above.

Otherwise, I felt the unveiling was fine... basically everything that's been pretty much known and the positive was that for S-Pen feature the price was around $950 which is where I expected it... $100 over the S8+.

Everyone shouldn't be surprised that the Note 8 is basically an S8++ and future models will most likely be ++ too.

What do you do, or apps do you run that demand that kind of power?
