I got an Android, but want to go back to the iPhone. Why is this?

Any top Android device is going to provide an excellent OOB experience. Probably better than Apple.

I'm sure that they do, but I was just responding to the "wallpapers, widgets" comment. Not everyone wants that, and if they do, then Android is right for them.

Hmm, why would you say BlackBerry instead of Apple? BB10 is very cool, the only thing that would make it undesirable for many is lack of apps, but that can be helped too, in part. I know you don't care much for BB. I didn't either, until I saw a Z10.

Lack of apps is THE killer, and the only one that is needed for me. The app ecosystem is what makes or breaks a platform me. Apple has the best to me, so I didn't use them as an example. I not only deplore the BB ecosystem (or lack thereof), but I also don't see them competing to well in the consumer market. BB10? Yeahp, it may be nice until they decide its not what they want to support and move to BB11 and none of your BB10 apps work with that or whatever. I don't follow blackberry...and with iOS and android I don't see that changing. My job gave me a Z10 and I offloaded that on a newby tech as soon as I could, so its not that I've not used it. I use a 9900, for my job, now, as I have to use a BB. I may move to Q10 but really don't want to be bothered switching. I'm not a blackberry fan, I'm just not. I know they can be twisted to run Android apps but that's not too attractive to me. If I want to run android apps...I'll get an android device.

Hmmm...based on what experiences or articles do you form that opinion? I'm not saying its wrong, but in all the top-end android devices I've had in the last year I didn't see that. Maybe close to or even as good as Apple, but better? That almost sounds fanboyish, so please enlighten.

Does Google even have a number to call? I'm asking because I don't know. Apple has excellent phone support, online chat support, and their network of Apple stores. I can walk into an Apple store with a problem, and walk out with a fixed phone or a replacement phone, and it will be set up just like the one that I walked in with. No Android maker does that.
Yes, excellent customer service - but you pay for it! I was a long time Apple user, both computer and iPhone/iPad. I just bought a Nexus 5. A superb phone. It cost me over ?250 less than the iPhone 5S. I also bought a Nexus 7 for ?150 less than an iPad Mini Retina. I'm sure any company could provide me excellent service if I paid them ?400 for the privilege!

The first part of what you wrote: you mentioned your sister having a Galaxy phone. So why wouldn't you compare Apple to Android for that? What do you suppose made your sister choose the s3?

I think it's a demonstrable opinion. What does an iPhone offer the average customer versus say, the M8, out of the box? Camera is arguable but the m8 offers SD, and everything Apple offers and more.

Moto X and a Nexus 5 both provide an out of box experience just as good as Apples. Unless people prefer the Apple logo on their boxes.

People are free to hate on Apple; it just irritates me when they do so for reasons which I feel are fallacious, unfair, or that I don't entirely agree with.

That's good if someone says something like "Apple doesn't update their phones"..

But..

If someone has an opinion though in why they don't like it.. That's their opinion and they can't really be "wrong " for it. Like me.. I just hate how Apple said what I could do.. How I couldn't download any file only "approved" files.. And (at the time) had no toggles for Wifi and things.

It's just personal preference :).

Indeed. A friend and I compared his iPhone 5S and my nexus 5 side by side. We opened apps which were available on both platforms and web pages. In most cases the two devices were neck and neck and where they weren't, the Nexus 5 was faster at getting the data on the screen. The screen was demonstrably better on the Nexus - text in particular was sharper and beautifully defined. Google Now is much better than Siri. We proved that time and time again. To think he had paid all that extra money for the extra bling . . .

ecosystem, app and accessory. In my travels I still see that iOS apps are more refined than their android counterparts, this Tapatalk app is a perfect example. Another is the AT&T Digital Life app, I use. ...still another is my favorite game, Monopoly. Then there's the accessory ecosystem. The only android OEM that even comes close there, IME, is Samsung and their a distant 2nd. Then there's just the user experience. I currently much prefer the iOS user experience but that's because I'm looking for the simplest most polished out of the box. If you want the largely customizable device android is the way to go. Yadda yadda....

I haven't used both the Moto X and the 5c/5s right next to each other like you have so I can't argue that. I know that I really really really do not like stock android so I think I'd disagree. ...but a new launcher can be quickly deployed if that's what you wanna do. The Apple logo? ...is no more effective than the Samsung logo on people's brains nowadays me thinks. Plenty of celebs using android phones and stuff. I wonder how many people are really still buying iPhones just because they think for some dumb reason they'll be seen as cooler with it. I'd say just the opposite, that you have to really like it because many will scoff at you for using an iPhone and assume you're an iSheep or ignorant or whatever it's cool to say at the moment.

I think Android and Apple seek to provide a different experience, which they do. Its so funny how some try to prove that one experience is objectively better than the other, IME, that happens more here than it does at, say, iMore.

To me, its like saying black is better than white and then trying to justify why.

Yeah, but you could pay Google $1000 for the Nexus 5 , and still not have service the caliber of Apple's.

Shouldn't we want to go to customer service less instead of being happy to go there? Would rather have a $350 off contract phone works good for you for a year and you never have to go to customer service, or have a iPhone 5S and go to a Genius Bar 3-5 times a year? I even had my RAZR M last year for a year and never went to Verizon for ANY problems with my phone. I have a Moto X now and after 3.5 months of ownership I have never had to go to a carrier store for anything.

It's just plain to me. ...like plain lettuce.

I felt the same way. That probably why I would never own a Nexus device. My Moto X deviates from stock android enough that I am bored with it. Also I prefer Motorola's stock wallpapers to the Nexus wallpapers.

Why would you go 3-5 times a year to a Genius Bar? I have had to get several replacements for Android phones, and one iPhone.
