I got an Android, but want to go back to the iPhone. Why is this?

Re: Got an Android but want to go back to iPhone. Why is this?

One of the things I do appreciate about samsung and Apple is basic screen quality. As many devices as I've had I've never had a faulty screen or dead/stuck pixel with either of their devices. I can't say the same for the Nexus 7's or Asus Transformer Prime's I've had.
I have never had a single stuck/dead pixel on any Android device I have ever owned, back to the Droid 1. And I have an Asus Transformer as well.

That being said, I do agree about Apple's attention to detail when it comes to their displays. No light bleed and they usually have great color saturation and brightness compared to their competitors. Too bad they are still stuck in 2010....no 720p displays yet. Even cheap low end Android phones have better-than-retina resolution and PPI now.

I don't know why I've had these experiences with my Asus products. I did have a couple of '13 Nexus 7's that were indeed flawless too.

Stuck in 2010, yet still have one of the best displays out there. I just wish it was bigger.

Hopefully they male the display bigger in this years iteration. I don't think no more than 4.5 inches though.

The retina display is phenomenal. One of the best for sure. Pixel count isn't everything.

Remember when you mention battery life and pixel display don't forget the iPad has a retina display of 2048-by-1536 and has solid battery life.

Funny how Apple seemed to have forgotten that when the Retina display first came out. Those goalposts are quite mobile.

I think PPI becomes less important after a certain point. I won't say what that point is. Some think its 324 PPI, some think its 440+ PPI. Some may even think it's well over 500 PPI.

PPI is really the most over sold statement and I hate Apple for that. Honestly we can't see the difference between 720 and 1080p on our 4-5 inch phones. Now they want to push it farther. I rather have better battery life. That is where Moto X got things right.

It was a selling point for their iPhone 4 and, to me, it made the user experience more enjoyable, and still does. ...but only to the point that my eyes can't discern the pixels at distances I use my devices at. TBH, 300 PPI is more than enough for me on a phone or tablet to feel like I've got a great display. Even though the iPad Air's is lower than that I have no complaints whatsoever.

It is just a selling point. It doesn't make the phone anymore useful, and in fact to much may be a bad thing for performance of everything else.

I think anything over 300PPI is good enough. But ideally I'd like it to be high enough that I cannot discern pixels at any level. My Nexus 5 is significantly higher than Retina-quality and I can still see pixels within 8 inches.

It does affect the experience for me, though not dramatically. I could live with a phone with 300PPI.

Can't you two play nicer? Why does one have to be better than the other? Why can't they just co-exist? Because the two companies are in disagreement their customers need to be as well?

Because Apple is sue-happy, and insists they invented everything.

Samsung is so large that Apple suing it is almost irrelevant. Even if Apple were to win how would Samsung's customers be truly hurt?

Apple is protecting it's patents, as any responsible company should. Also, it is very obvious that Samesung blatantly copied Apple in the past, right down to Apple's 30-pin connector. No denying that.
And actually, Google copied Apple after the first iPhone was released. They had a Blackberry clone just about ready, and trashed that and copied the iPhone.

Apple and Google are both great companies, IMO.

It's the thought that counts eh?

Removing choice. Samsung might be forced to remove options or features as a result of such suits, which would also set a precedent. The fact that Apple is attempting it at all makes them [inappropriate language removed by moderator], whether or not they succeed.
