I HATE the grey Google search bar in Jelly Bean

I am unlocked and rooted. What do I need to do to get the Google search bar transparent again? I tried Nova launcher and it worked but I think it caused lag and also I had some issues with my Switchpro Widgets when I used it.

Any apps that will do this for me that are not battery hogs?

Why would anyone think a grey search bar was an improvement?!?!?!?!

I keep the Search Bar up there, am also using Nova & SwitchPro Widget...not experiencing any lag though.

i have never really liked the search bar on my home screen. i use nova launcher an put it on my second sceen. it is pretty hideous lol

to each their own. while i liked the transparent one in ICS, i actually prefer the one in JB and use it on my launcher of coice (apex)

O.P. my only suggestion is to change it yourself by decompiling the launcher apk changing the image and re-compiling.
or use a different launcher (apex or nova) and try to get past the lag you see. i haven't seen lag at all personally with either launcher.
i would suggest setting it up how you like it, then freeze the stock launcher with some app or make the launcher a backup or something to get it off the phone completely.
then reboot and wipe caches and you should be good after that. i have had 4 launchers installed at one time and never experienced lag though.

Im using adw theme launcher...and when you have it loaded up(not a battery hog either)you can mix and match theme elements...and one of those is changing the search bar..(its called the action bar or something in adw) and one of the choices is just outline...ill post a screenshot for ya...im running a droid razr HD with jelly bean. *grins*

Nova, Apex, etc. Use the launcher. You can remove it, I think you can theme it, change the size, etc.

I saw somewhere where a person with Nova Launcher said when he /she experienced lag, they backed up the settings, uninstalled, reinstalled, and restored the settings. Said it needed to be done every few months or so.

I use primarily gestures with Nova (i.e., no app drawer button) and haven't experienced any discernible lag in months. Also depends on your setup...

Here it is...running jelly bean

? Still waters run deep ?

Totally off topic. How do you insert photos? It never works for me.

On topic, how'd you get it to move the mic in the search bar?

GNR, to insert photos...(I always do this from my phone) I use Talpatalk first of all....and when you hit the attachment button...you chose your pic...and then (very important) choose talpatalk server...that will give you a nice postable screen shot or just image you want to upload...second...The mic is in a custom spot because its been themed by ADW...when I first chose it..it was grey..i just had to go into adw options-themes-mix and match theme elements. Then you choose action bar...it gives you several options...one of them sais outline...choose that one! *Grins* any other questions let me know!

Here is another shot...this is transparent/theme option...now the frame is gone too!

Assuming the attachment icon is the camera (I'm doing this on my phone), that never works for me. Select gallery for location, choose a picture, confirm size and select Tapatalk hosted. It says waiting for a response while doing what appears to be an upload, then says,

Error: missing required parameters.

Oh well.

Re: Photos-fastest way to get .jpg link for forum posting?

That really sucks...not sure what to say on that one...that's the process tho! Good luck my friend!

Thanks for verifying I was doing it right. Guess I'll make my way to the "using this site" forum. LOL
