I hate this phone rate 0

Re: Bluetooth won't connect to car

Now that you've got me thinking about this I think I'm wrong in my original comment about low energy. Phones, especially the S8, should be Bluetooth smart ready devices so should connect to all forms of Bluetooth, classic and low energy.

I wonder if the OP's car is only capable of storing 1 device and if so he needs to remove the S5 first. If he's done that already then we definitely need more info on the car unit.
I was thinking same. Some units can only remember pairing to a few devices, and won't connect to any new ones until old ones are wiped.

Welcome.

What vehicle do you have? There may be an update from the dealer to fix the connection.

Also, apps never transfer to a new device. They have to be re-downloaded each time. Annoying, but true.

Really? All my compatible apps transferred with no problem.

Re: Bluetooth won't connect to car

...also, there might be an update for your car's software. Check that, too, then try to pair the device again.

I just upgraded from s5 and an EXTREMELY.DISAPPOINTED.... 1. Because of the "BLUETOOTH version 5", i cant pair with car stereo.... I hate that no apps are transferred, just data... I hate the screen, pretty much evdrything..

UNLESS I READ about a complete miracle with the design etc I am going back-to my Galaxy S5

What a shame it's a great device can't comment on your Bluetooth issue but my two cars pair very fast no issues at all.

Re: Bluetooth won't connect to car

2014 Kia no problem and a 2015 Kenwood aftermarket no issue either both older Bluetooth matter of fact the S8 pairs faster then any other device I have had. I would contact Samsung support they may have a workaround. good luck

Re: Bluetooth won't connect to car

I would definitely check to see if there is a software update available for the vehicle; I know my Pixel XL worked for sound but wasn't sending file info to the infotainment thing in my car until I did a software update.

That's a shame. I'm sorry you're experiencing so many issues. I upgraded from the S6 to the S8 and it was the BEST decision I made! No bluetooth issues (actually connects much better than my S6), the apps transferred over from my previous phone without problems and I LOVE the screen and its resolution!

In regards to your bluetooth issue, you may want to go on an online forum for your car manufacturer. You may not be the only one experiencing this issue and someone may have a solution for the problem.

Good luck if you decide to keep the phone. If you go back to the S5, good luck as well!

Re: Bluetooth won't connect to car

I have a 2012 Mazda Speed3 and ever since Samsung updated to Lolipop and above, metadata doesn't push to my dash. I've owned HTC and LG phones and they push the track, album and artist names just fine. My LG V20, which I just had pushed the info but something about the way Samsung does Bluetooth doesn't send this data to my car. It's a total bummer and has me looking at an Aftermarket head unit every time I have a Samsung phone. I've called Mazda and they don't have an update to push for my car so I'm basically SOL.

As others have said, I'd check with your dealer to see if they have an update for your model.

Re: Bluetooth won't connect to car

I never get Bluetooth album art in my car. Used G4, V10, V20 and my S8. But I do get artist and track metedata though

S5 vs S8 might try a iPhone 5 while your at it.

Not only did the blue tooth pair fine but on a resent trip my wife was listening to one source I was listening to a different source! Screen clarity insane. All my apps transfered over perfect via Google play.

Is the phone perfect of course not but it's cutting edge technology in one's hand moving in the right direction!!

I also have this same issue, but I'm still in love with my s8 plus. I have an 2010 infiniti. Would the update from the dealer resolve my issue

I am kind of disappointed to see some of the reactions in this thread. Me and my team of Ambassadors go out of our way to make people feel welcomed when they post for the first time. This user is having an issue, and maybe as a group, we can try to help fix it (Be together, not the same).

It may be a hardware issue, like @L0n3N1nja said. I would follow up with the idea @VW Maverick had and see if there is an update on the car's side to help. You might want to stereo update anyway; it may fix issues you haven't come across yet.

As a broad statement across all brands, each manufacturer has occasional software updates for many different things.
As technology updates so does the modules that communicate with them.
Check with your dealer on this.
They will most likely have to hook up to your vehicle to check the software version. Some can check it by the VIN.

Long answer to a short question but with cars being one big mobile computer system these days, they gotta be kept up to date with the current technology.

I have a 2012 hyndia sonata, it's hard to believe no one tested backward comparability, I have 2 remote speakers that won't pair also.... is there any list of Bluetooth devices this MAKES USELESS

By the very definition of the Bluetooth standard they are backwards compatible.
