I was thinking same. Some units can only remember pairing to a few devices, and won't connect to any new ones until old ones are wiped.Now that you've got me thinking about this I think I'm wrong in my original comment about low energy. Phones, especially the S8, should be Bluetooth smart ready devices so should connect to all forms of Bluetooth, classic and low energy.
I wonder if the OP's car is only capable of storing 1 device and if so he needs to remove the S5 first. If he's done that already then we definitely need more info on the car unit.
